You guys have gotta try a Rueben - with Thousand Island dressing, of course! Got introduced to these in Philadelphia. Speaking of which, the Philly cheesesteak is OK, though I like the Rueben better.

Scrumptious!

what a great thread dont you just hate the sanga they make these days with all the weeds (as i call them).

my list - some would have been mentioned already
- egg & lettuce
- ham & lettue with good sprinkle of salt (or chicken)
- cornbeef and pickles
- windsor sausage and tomato sauce
- ham, cheese and tomato
- vegemite and cheese toasted
- chicken cheese and onion toasted
- ham & tomato toasted
- almost forgot the chicken and salad roll with potato chips crunched up on top

and for the oddball one - hot sauce (black sauce) sanga. bread with lots of butter and soak in sauce

Not a combo but something interesting to try is the good old cheese biscuit. Put a normal slice of cheese (still in the plastic wrapper) in the microwave for 1 minute then quickly put it into the freezer so it cools down. Simply peel off the wrapper and eat it. Watched a mate do it a little while ago and I was like WTF. But they actually go alright.

Favourite combos for me are:
Ham & cheese
vegemite & cheese (absolutely hate marmite or promite or any others like them..VEGEMITE ALL THE WAY)
Chip sandwich with tomato sauce
Peanut butter & honey
Chicken & cheese melts

I gotta say that does look good TURBOTAXI but the only time I can
remember seeing them was while living in Melbourne and working in
Springvale and be dammed if I was gunna eat out of any of those
bakeries. I still remember the butcher beside the club I was working
at getting his meat delivered at 9am and it still sitting in the alleyway
at 3pm in the arvo. :

lol Yeah its a leap of faith. There hasnt been pork roll deaths for a couple of years with some new standards http://www.health.vic.gov.au/foodsaf...s_winter04.pdf and something similar with Sydney.

The dangerous parts are mostly the pate (because its offal) and the Egg Butter (rawish egg) The processed pork is so loaded with salt and preservative (and processed within an inch of still calling it Pork)

I have never had illness from them, but then my stomach knows no bounds when it comes to bacteria.

Springvale is a great place for Pork rolls in Melbourne, In Sydney, the Hong Ha at Mascot (plus their redroll franchises (www.redroll.com.au) around Sydney.
There are some other good'uns in the Sydney CBD and out at Cabramatta and again Blacktown.

The one in the picture I made at home, made my own egg butter and pate, and bought the pork from asian markets in Sydney.

You've got me intrigued. I'd assume it's one of those pretend cheese slices in the plastic wrapper? I think the real sliced cheese isn't wrapped up...?

I'm not about to race out and buy processed cheese so... what does doing the above do to it?

I am talking about prcessed cheese like singles or the home brand cheese. When in the microwave the cheese melts but can't go anywhere because it is inside the wrapper. Once in the freezer it cools down quick making the cheese go sort of hard and chewy like a biscuit. Not everyone likes it but majority do. Not a bad quick snack

2 slices of nice thick white bread with Salami (any kind, your favourite), Tasty Cheese and a thick layer of raw white onion. It sounds bad, but its got major flavour. If your not partial to raw onion, you had better not try this one.

I love the old ham & cheese toastie, but I'm a bit fussy with mine, I prefer it with Mozzarella cheese. Absolutely beautiful!

And for the chip butty - hell yeah. Making me think of heading to the local chicken shop to grab some chips to make one!

Glad I'm not the only one. If you peel it first and sit the slice of cheese on the plastic and then in the microwave, it just peels away and you dont have to worry about putting it in the freezer.
