My original post in this thread had the 911 GT3 on my list. Well, I have decided the little brother GT4 RS is better, especially those last 1,000rpm!

I don't really like exotic cars, there are only two exceptions to that; a V12 Aston Marting or a GT Porsche.

To drive ? Me driving the car from within, my XB 351 2V with dual exhaust, not loud but not quiet, you could hear the engine noise thrashing away as revving it out as well a pleasant noise ! as well as the exhaust rumble. Not to mention I like the exhaust manifold noise better than the extractor noise.
Now that's just a standard car mind you. but I still remember it clearly. it's pleasant to hear and made me happy regardless.

Sure a hot 351 revving out to 7000rpm is great as well, not to mention one that did 9000rpm in Darwin that I seen on the drag strip and not to mention blew me away heading out of Darwin one night in 1987 that sand blasted my face as it shot by, I should of had my window wound up ! but I was demonstrating what a stock extractor duel exhaust XC 5.8L P van could do, I thought # in hell that's that XC Cobra Hardtop with Gold stripes sitting at the lights as I came turning left in front of him, so back to 1st flat too the boards display and into 2ed then I seen the lights change and I was like one, two, boy hear she comes three, and # ing woosh ! like I was standing still he must of been doing easy 200KM/H as he past, it was a 6 second 400M car.
So that was a good sound to hear outside or go past you in a car. It was not so much loud but sounded some what like a turbine coming up and going by.

I think that all electric vehicles should have a mandated sound to help pedestrians, especially in car parks...I think a Lambo V10 at full noise should be the required sound... that would get pedestrians attention.....sorry couldnt help it.

Start up sound of a 351, and the lightest touch on the throttle to get it rolling. Nothing else comes close.

One of the few films to get the sound right.

Totally agree .....best part of the movie, surround sound and a decent sub turned up so loud it rattles the windows in the kitchen

Apart from the old Ferrari Formula 1 v12s, at a recent track day at Eastern Creek, there was what looked like a Group N '65 Mustang, I didn't get to find out which particular Ford V8 engine it was running ( I assume a 302w), but I have never heard a Ford V8 sounding that good, and I grew up watching the old Group A cars.

taking this from a whole different view point.

When I was a teenager we had cassette players in our cars, it didnt take much rewiring to place big crappy speakers behind the grill of your car and them play noises through the system.
traffic lights middle of town and a sweet girl would cross in front of you and the wolf would howl.
Quietly sitting at lights and the crazy squealing of brakes as a 'car' locked up, people would dive for cover, other drivers would duck for cover.
traffic lights ...old steam train chugging through with whistles going full bore.
cows mooing
politicians yapping double speed.

was funny at the time.

Perhaps you mean the 6.0L biturbo V12 as there is no biturbo 6.3, the 6.3 was NA. The 4.0 V8 was biturbo

Just a touch too much supercharger whine for me, but I 4V Modular's have always sounded good to my ears.

My sister spent a month in South Africa with her partner over Christmas. I found out the other day that she got a flame-thrower ride in one of his mates "Porsche".

Of course, I had to ask, what Porsche.................only a 911 GT3 RS! Roll cage and all.

Now, my sister is a bit of a petrol head like me but isn't crazy about power and torque. Well, she wouldn't stop gushing about how amazing the experience was. You know, the sound, the performance, the fact it sat dead flat in the corners.

Of course, I am soooooooooooooooo jealous. I have been fortunate to drive and experience a number of special cars over the years. I have even managed to drive one of my dream cars, on a track no less. But a Porsche with one of those ultra-high revving 4.0 flat 6's is on the bucket list.

Hot sounding 6's have always intrigued me. Although to be clear, mostly for the induction note and not the exhaust note. (I think we all know how bad a big exhaust sounds on a V6 Holden or Inline 6 Ford, or even the Ford Ecoboost V6's).

There was an era in the early 2000's where BMW had the subtle rasp engineered into all of their Inline-6's, from the base 2.2 to the 2.5 and 3.0. And of course, those delicious 3.2 M-Power engines with the 6 individual throttle bodies.

Alfa V6's, the VW VR6 and first-gen Honda NSX all made good noises. I even liked how raw the naturally aspirated Barra sounded in BF and FG spec.

Naturally aspirated Porsche flat 6's seem to be the candle bearer for great sounding 6-cylinder engines these days. Turbo's have just muffled so much of the good sound, to the point where it's engineered back into them via a speaker in the cabin (BMW, I'm pointing at you!). Not to mention 6-cylinder engines disappearing from cars most people can afford.

Air cooled 911 engines are even better sounding. The last ones before they went water cooled are worth big dollars now.

To drive a 911 in South Africa must require a full security detail.

Yeah the BMW does sound good ill be honest. So understated in the looks too.

RS6 just does it for me
If we go back to a similar era. C6 RS6 with the 5L V10 is even better than the current gen imo
