well today out the back of my old mans work i decided to give the system a good crank :sm_headba
and i noticed even after i reversed phased the 2 side subs they dont go as hard as the 2 back subs.... :
i have them hooked up to a 4ch amp and its bridged so they should be gettin plenty of power?

so any idea's of what is going wrong ?

cheers troy

enclosure size, ported, power, brand... all of these could be a contributor...

did i get this right? you put the k/w subs in where the boss ones now sit and the went good? but the boss ones r siht?

if so id say its a power issue....

try swapping all subs so k/w in the sides and boss in the back and see how it goes?

well the subs are directly opposite each other. the sound waves are going into each other and cancelling themselves out.

well apparenlty this is the big arguement about installing a second sub, If you add a second one, your only going to get a 2dB gain, my friend knows all about it and can explain it in dtail, i'll ask him n get back to you if you like...

yeh, running different subs, power frequencys etc, can lead to problems. the best is to have all the same subs with an amp each
looks good but. i'll get pics of mine up once its done. nothing like that but

oh ok thanks guys,
i was out the back of dads work today and i decided i would try and fix the problem, it strated off well because all 4 of them were going hard, the side 2 were throwing correctly and all and then all a sudden they went back to only working a litte bit..? im thinking my capasator is stuffed because they will work when the capasator is fully lit up but when its only half lit up they wont work properly..?

cheers troy

yeah im running a fuse on the 4guage from te battery to the capasator...
or i was thinking it might be that the RCA and the power cable form the amp are too close together??? would that make them not throw right?

sorry guys for been so stupid i just went outside then and had a play with it, and the problem was verry simple... the RCA lead was sitting against the power cable along the amp so all i did was wrap the power cable in that grey stuff that comes with the wiring kit and moved the RCA lead away from it simple...

thanks for all of those who helped me out with everything from wiring to idea's to just help in general and thanks for the positive feed back. much apreciated

i am finally happy with the result and how it sounds. hope you all like it too.

cheers troy

Looks good mate..

I don't know about the 2 Db extra for each sub.. but there is also another unwritten rule which states for every doubling of power you get 3 Db gain.. So another upgrade in the future worth looking at would be a more power amp/ sub combo.. and sell the gear you have already to recompensate some of the $$$..

Well done!!!

Chers,
Nik

Hey guys..
I work in the Jaycar Elesctronics Albury Store.. Actually i half manage the Albury store.. LOL.. Anyways.. I am always willing to do deals on our gear.. especially to forums members.. At the Albury store we have one of the best audio displays in the country which i made myself.. I have all of the available subs working in their ideal enclosure off an 800 wrms d class.. i also have all of the speakers Jaycar currently stocks working and demoable..LOL.. except the 6" splits.. which sound the same as the 6.5"s anyways..

And if you pop in i will happily astound you with a 6.5" sub which sounds louder and clearer than most 10" subs.. LOL.. Plus comming in on the right day might also mean listening and feeling my sweet tunes.. LOL..

Anyways.. enough of a plug.. I should prob get back out to the shed.. LOL..

Cheers,
Nik
