Hi Guys,I'm new to the forum and just after your valuable opinions. I have an xc coupe (351 4v fairmont, sunroof, 9 inch) which was taken of the road about 25 years ago and as such is straight and totally rust free and in real terms this car owes me nothing. It is complete but stripped and in primer and has a recoed 460 and toploader. lots of work has already been done (eg whole under car painted and immaculate) My dilema is what to do with it. Sell as is or finish it with the 460...i really dont know which way to go...my free time is limited due to work which is why this car is still in this state and if i finish it i know that it will still just sit and gather dust so should i let it go...what would u do?

Sell it to me ta993. I will take her off your hands. If it is just gonna sit there even after you are done with the restore, then you are better off letting her go to me. I'll take good care of her! :

Speaking from experience, (gen XBGT coupe & Superbird) that i sold to buy our first home, keep it and finish it or you will be kicking yourself.
Took me 17 years to find my current coupe. |

maybe you can have someone else reassemble it for you ??? have a panel shop finish the bodywork... then reassemble yourself... then have someone do the 460 for you ? hard to point you to reputable / reliable people that can do this for you... when we don't know where you are though : |

Heres an XC Coupe for sale on the forum:
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11226536 It seems like it has good body and paint, wouldn't take much to put on the road and enjoy as is or make a really good base if anyone has grander plans. Interested parties should contact the owner direct. Here's some more pics:

If any one is interested in a XC Fairmont coupe, factory 351, top loader, disc brake 9" with extra's like factory sunroof, air & steer as well as electric windows. Body is in excellent condition and very straight. Paint is Red pepper.
It is partly disassembled and rear screen is out, but comes with car. I'm told it has been garaged for the past 20 years, and looking at the car yesterday it looks like it. P.M me your details and i will pass them on. |

gents, please go easy on me as I am new.
Looking for a coupe, not fussed as to XA,XB,XC as a base for a project with a GT500 motor. Not concerned re mechanical condition just want a body that is relatively straight and as rust free as possible. Am I dreaming re finding one and what sort of dollars I am looking at. There is a rolling shell on ebay but looks a bit rough. Any advice appreciated. |

I know this may seem a bit pricey for what you want to do but have you considered the Platinum Blue XC I posted up on the previous page? It looks to be a good body and very presentable as is. Otherwise keep looking at ebay, carsales, trading post etc. If I hear of others comming up for sale I'll post up here. Good luck with it.

You all seem to know what you're on about, which is a nice thing. I'm new to this forum and new to Coupe ownership. I'm building a recently acquired rust free '74 XB, but am not planning on going fully original with it. I need to know whether an XC steering column will fit in to the XB. I know that the ignition is different - is that the only difference or is the indicator stalk also different?
Thanks for your help! |

Here's a couple of rather tuff big block Landaus on Carsales. These bad boys look to be pretty decent buying. Does anyone know these ones??

I'm not sure whether an XB stalk will fit into an XC column! Here is a photo of a ZH Fairlane steering column in my old ZF Fairlane. Wayne |

Not bad when you consider the matching numbers donk was not in the sale but if the description was accurate, a great body to enjoy some understeering fun in!

Thanks XCGXL. Very useful info. You photo shows that you used the XC ignition. Will the XB ignition fit on to the XC column so that you can use the XB dash shroud?
Rewiring the indicator stalk is no problem. Cheers! |

Hi Ducati and welcome to the forums. If you start a new thread in the technical section here http://www.fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=229 as this would be the best area to discuss and hopefully get more responses ....
