If I remember correctly we also lose something like 50-60kw until 3rd gear anyway. Coupled with the electronic torque control. We're way down on power at launch compared to a wrx.

And I don't know how much effort your clubsport "racers" were putting in.

I still love the car, and I like my license too much to risk it in a poorly timed traffic light GP anyway.

XR5-Boy. Read my comment again, "think it's not as quick as an STI." LOL. Truth is if anyonehas driven a Clubsport, in my opinion, it's not that awesome quick. Then thing with the ST is that the car is that sturdy that when you driving fast, it doesn't feel like it.

And I'm not saying its the fasted car on the market but it's ain't slow.

From what you have posted, nothing is as good as a new ST. Yeah its an awesome hot hatch.
Clubsport not awesome quick? What is awesome quick? The ST isnt a straight line car and never will be. The V8 will monster it in a straight line 10 times out of 10.

You have turned what was an info thread about the new ST into a wee weeing contest with your ST or nothing posts. (Im as big a fan of the ST brand as anyone but a fanboi im not).

Of course I'm a BIG fan of the ST, I just think some of you are reading facts rather than the truth. Ok, if the ST didn't have such advance steering, then I would have a bad time keeping up with a another car. Not too look like a massive ******, I've raced heaps of cars that most people would say are faster but you can't simply make an assumption on facts. It's bloody ******* quick strait line or not. I have raced a WRX and won, I haven't raced an STI yet.

Yes it's quicker than your average car. But the car is about the corners.

Saying you've raced all these wondefull cars is just plain dumb. Did any of them even know you were racing them?

Stick it into the corners, it's where it belongs. If you want to brag about how big you ***** is with straight line race's, best you go buy something that goes fast in a straight line and falls over in the corners...

Having come from a modded SS Commodore, I can tell you they dont feel 'awesome quick', but put it down the 1/4 mile and it'll take down any hot hatch out there. Fact.

However I would be more than willing to bet that to 60 km/h the ST would win, but it doesnt mean your car is faster.

You can make all the claims about who you have raced and beat, no one will believe you unless your realistic, simple as that.

And obviously (And as stupid as it is racing on the road) have purchased the wrong car to race it in a straight line against cars that it IS slower against.

Again the ST is a competent hot hatch theres no doubt about it but your claims are unrealistic.

I know its just your opinion mate, but I think what we are all saying is that we don't need to see it every 2nd post. And bragging about how you race everything at any chance you get isnt going to do you any favours around here.

just an update on my st, is now done 3200km so happy with it, had the sat nav updated yesturday now waiting for new st badges to come because the door ones fell off lol
the car still amazes me!!

your have had your sat nav updated to the latest version? did the dealer charge you for this

I have done nearly 7000km, car still going strong. The only issue is the centre unit containing radio etc a couple of times has played, usually when playing mp3 from usb stick.

Nope wasn't charged for it was done under warranty as its a new car, and it's version 4

Ford refuse to update mine. Say there is no update, and if there was, I'm paying for it. Stupid considering the sat nav lacks The Gateway Motorway (the 2007 upgrade), so it's several years old...

They don't come with door badges I think BOS put some on his car.

Coming up to 6000k myself and I still adore it. The only issue I have is the wife cannot get her head around SYNC, works ok for me though funny that.

Yep had dealer put them on before delivery, and they fell off in 3 days so they've ordered new ones, hopefully the boot one not the grill like they where.

Pumaspeed have a hybrid stage 1 turbo for the ST in testing. Initial testing revealed 300bhp with Milltek decat exhaust, roadsport FMIC, filter and custom tune.

Is this tested wheel power or hocus pocus estimated fly wheel power that all the euro tuners make up?

Yeah a flywheel figure looking at their dyno sheet. I dont think they are looking for power, its about testing their parts.

That's who I'm talking about, Ford Motor Company of Australia. On my third Euro Ford, and have learnt not to bother asking questions about them at Ford Dealers.

300hp at the fly is around 180 fwkw - not exactly unrealistic is it? Thats only around a 20% increase over stock

from what i have read, 300hp is about as far as most tuners think they can go with the current turbo due to its size. i have no idea what turbo swap options exist and how uch room there is for a bigger snail.

I didn't ask because I didn't believe the figure. I asked because of the trend of euro tuners to display misleading or very vague figures.

Seems at this stage the MKIII doesnt have the tunability of the I5T. Early days though.

The problem with Euro figures is the stupid conversion, Mountune is one that have always overstated the number vs actual figure.
