If that's the case .., your best off looking at the TFS top end kits and piece match the parts to your chosen specs. You will also need to add lifters onto that list.

But I still think building a 347 is the smarter way.
Brad unless TFS have improved their camshafts I wouldn't really be using any of their grinds. Also much your own engine the better option is to buy your components individually and get the right parts the first time.

Yeah i figured, thanks for the advice and info!
There definitely coming soon, and ive found a diff out of an xr8, but i dont know whether to put the 3.45 in or wait and put 3.73 gears in, 3.45 goes well in mums xr8 but mine having that extra 150kg over hers i think i might need to go 3.73 to get the same feel.
What are your thoughts on gears?

Yes - I'm not saying buy the tfs topend kit, but look at all the componantes in the kit and peice match to your desired camshaft grind - heads etcetera.

Anyways - alls good and I'm signing off this post now as Dave seems to have things covered

I've got 3.91s in my T1 with the T5 manual and it sits at around 2600rpm at 100km/h. I would say of the mods I've done so far it was definitely the one which made the biggest improvement. Fuel economy hasn't suffered at all, if anything it improved.

I'll back that up, my economy has improved too, although most of my driving is around town where its most beneficial. Although with a BTR it sits on 2250 rpm at 100 kph, not as high as your's Bottledup.

BTR is the manfacturer of the 4 speed auto Brad, full name of the transmission is a BTR95LE or BTR97LE.

Just on the topic of diff gear swap ... When you say your going to swap over the gears in an xr8 diff ... Which I am assuming is the 3:45 ratio to 3:91 ratio ... What does that actually entail regarding parts to swap and estimated cost of labour ??
For when I enquired into it I was quoted around $1600.

3.9s were the best thing I ever did to my 5.0 T5 AU ute.
Improved fuel economy and just made it so much nicer to drive.
Might even do it to the missus 5.0 AU3 Ghia one day.

I bought my gears off Ebay for about $250, and gave them to the diff workshop to fit, cost about $600 all up to have them fitted.

My guy was saying .. If you replace the gears you need to replace something else ?? Can't remember ... Plus he wanted to use gears purchased through Herrod ... Plus his labour charge ... Hence the $1600 price tag. He did say he would install ebay gears but would not warranty work (

Hey guys,
Great read in here I got a lot of info.

Im in the middle of doing some mild mods to my 302 aswell I have a list of the parts I have so far.

Trickflow Manifold
Pacemaker PH4000
YT 2028 Roller Rockers
Crane 444225 Cam
24lb Injectors
GT40p Heads
AU xr8 motor Series 1

Just a bit unsure on what sort of valve springs I should be looking for.

Simplest way is to go on Fordstroker website and look at their beehive Pac springs ... That's what I brought. And you will also need new lifters and Fordstroker seeks the good gear at affordable prices. ... And yes pushrods !

More so ... Just email fordstrokers owner " Jim Woods" and he will take care of you
