If you got to trueblueford.com- http://www.trueblueford.com/Specs_Pages.htm they have really detailed specs on the T1 TE50 and TS50.
Correct me if I'm wrong but T1,T2 and T3 all had different heads. I think T1 had an US Alloy head. T2 had an Australian Cast Iron head. T3 had???? |

I think your basically right, although some early series 2 cars (mine included) got the SVO alloy heads. In typical FoMoCo they kept building till the stock ran out. T3 got a revised Iron head to suit the higher HP

Guys keep in mind that this thread was asking what a TE was, not debating the differences between series etc.

Well in some peoples mind, the TE / TS was the GT of the AU series, and probably very deserving of being called a GT
Can you imagine how many would have been sold if the were called a GT? Ford marketing for you. The T series cars do have a soul, very similar to the old school GT's, they are not a refined car, they are definitely a muscle car

That's basically what they were, Ford's equivalent of HSV at the time as much as they hated to admit it.
The BA GT & GTP were originally going to carry the TE & TS names but it was decided (correctly) that it would be better marketing to trade of the GT heritage. |

Apparently (I haven't seen it yet) there is an article in the new Unique Cars issue on the T Series and says something about the BA was going to be called a T4.
Don't flame me if thats not what it says!

I'd say if Tickford had continued in the development though it may have stayed as T4 though ... With the onset of B-series though Tickford was no more with Ford and the performance side was handled by FPV.

Hmm... stupid chief engineer, looked at supercharger/turbo but decided against it. imagine if they went the supercharged v8 route, i think the T series would of really got the publicity it deserved, instead of the half *** attempt. The T series should of been a name in the Ford line up like - Clubsport/Senator is to holden. |
