And I stand by my economy it's checked every fill and and is equal to or better than real life BA I6 and eclipses BA V8's. When I drop a litre/100km I know its time to clean the T/B and air filter.
sorry should have made it clearer, i know you have a Pursuit 250 and Im sure that would give a GT a go, I was talking more in my case - my XR8 will go ok but it's no GT killer.

I have a 220kw xr8 manual and get no problems at all 720km to a tank of fuel on a trip compared to my old EB XR8 auto that was flat out getting 550km on a trip. And thats with aircon on and getting up it every time I pass someone.

You get 9.4L/100km ? Or maybe you have a ute and you just decided to leave that part out which means you ONLY get 11.3L/100km ?

I simply don't believe you, or perhaps your mistaken and actually refering to your Toyota Corolla ?

I am not lying. I couldn't belive it either as I thought my EB was good. I think some of it would do with the AUs better aerodynamics and manual gearbox. Also another thing is the AU does about 2200rpm at 100kmh and the EB only did 1800rpm at 100kmh so the au is reving more but still using less fuel. And yes its a sedan not a ute or a Corolla. And I said on a trip so all at 110kmh or so not around town.

xr8master,

i think it's quite clear that all i wanted was a fuel usage comparison based on the
litres/per 100km reading from the trip computer.

anything else is irrelevant.

if my trip computer is reading around 14L/100KM and the guys here are reading the
same from their V8s,
then you can't honestly expect to tell me i'm going to use a significant difference in fuel than i already use.

if you want to argue with people about the technology of engines or how much fuel they use then start your own thread.

Hey my car's not a guzzler. Just because I have to tow a small tanker behind me :

It's a Falcon and no matter what engine is under the bonnet it's not going to be the most fuel efficient car out there. Just get the V8 and enjoy it I say. Can't beat that sound!

I own an au1 6cyl and an au3 220 xr8. and reading this post apparently my 220 xr8 is 'inferior'. My 'personal experiance' is that when i bought my 6cyl in 2001 i was getting about 450km out of a tank of fuel i have since bought my xr8 in 2005 and in my 'inferior' 302 xr8 i get about 420km and alot more power. about 70hp more at the wheels to be exact. So from 'personal experiance' i think it is well worth the extra $4.50 i spend a week on fuel. I hope this helps!

My V8 SERIES 10 million has 70hp more then my series 1 6 cyl I really think this is a good comparison, so it will suit my irrational and unpractical statment well.

Look if you want to compare then match a series 3 with a series 3, and dont try and compare a sports model with a GLI because the facts are that an AU3 VCT XR6 has a higher power ratio then the AU3 XR8.

I don't know why everyone is braving this usless defence against the windsor when its just a simple fact of ford history, the 6 cyl is and has for decades been the mainstreem of ford research and developement, it is a more advanced engine and naturally is a superior product overall

You buy a V8 for the power not the fuel economy! I get 450 driving it hard all day long. the car stay at around the 4000 rpm not bad for an 8.
