with regards to plates, could not care less... each to his/her own, if you want to spend $300-$500 for "ford" or whatever I say go for it.. I actually wonder if 1/2 the plates are bought/used and then resold at a higher cost as a investment, I mean some of these guys that have 5+ plates like HSV001, HOTHSV, or eqiv, have $1000 bucks on them.

I don't think people should be able to buy persoanlised plates, without putting them on a car.. that is to say, you can not go and buy 5 plates and not have them going on a car. not that the gov gives a toss more money for them, but people that "profit" up on these plates are annoying.. IMHO.

much like the old days of domain registrations, everyone bought up www.nike.com or big company names, in the hope that when the rest of the world caught up, they could sell it on at a massive profit... which I do belive has changed now!

sorry not thread related (much)...

A Lancer with "Mitsu" across the back of it. They couldn't fit the whole word Mitsubishi.

And a Mitsubishi Express van with altezzas badged as a Celica! :

And I'm with Doc - I wasted $170.00 on a set of plates because I didn't know what I was driving. My plate is WGNXR-6.

guys I think I have a winner here!

Imagine, if you will, a XF/XG ute, all looks normal until you see the tail gate; an EB/ED Sedan rear ganrish has been stuck onto the back of the tail gate.

It is seriously, all rice included, one of the worst things I have ever seen! I could of got a pic but the owner was probably a bogan (was in an el-dodge areait: ).

I must be a loser because I have stripes on my car.

I wish I was cool.

Fair enough people do some silly things to their cars but get over it, its their car, they obviously like it, we should keep our opinions to ourselves.

Thats my 2 cents anyway.

I just bought a smashed meteor, good ol' 1.5L running LPG. I'm still trying to figure out why put a 1.5L on LPG... The 1.5L uses bugger all fuel to start with.

A honda crx riced up to within an inch of its life, and a massive NISMO sticker running diagonally from the top of the rear quarter to the drivers door complete with a bowl headed driver and his 3 bowl headed mates.

An old local bloke has put a 4 cylinder diesel in his 78' LTD, it even had a "diesel powered" sticker across the top of the rear windscreen....

Go figure...

I saw a Gemini about 10 years ago, with a piece of house drainpipe for a home made "shaker".... It even had the vindex 90mm elbows coming out of the bonet.....

Get this !

He also had the same thing above the drivers head, , to cool the cabin..

Wish I had a photo !

AC/DC

also...

1. Any car that has a pi** on holden or pi** on ford sticker.
2. 6" round tach on any standard engine.
3. Neon.... ( sorry )
4. Car Brand Stickers.
5. Big Big Big exhausts on standard vehicles, , ( with the standard wheels ! ) they are obviously saving for the wheels / tacho / neon combo !
6. VL Commodores with Chiptorque stickers ( WRX included )
7. Engine parts / oil company stickers on the front panels , like a nascar !
8. Remember "stoneflectors"..... if you still have them you are a loser.
9. current day plastic stoneflectors.
10. ANYTHING hanging from the rearvision mirror. Expecially a garter, when the driver is a FAT pig chick, , , ! or a cardboard bikini girl, when the driver is a FAT PIG loser guy who stinks, , and drives a commodore with the windows down !

One of many reasons
1. Sticker was probably free as that single car has payed off the tow truck drivers mortgage, after daily occurances of being defected/breaking down/being drifted into a tree.
2. When the car is stolen for a number job, the owners of the paddock where the car was dumped have a phone number on hand! No yellowpages for them!

Ok I don't mind cars that are tastefully done ie 17" rims/exhaust/lowering on a Lancer is fine.

But there are some horrid cars around.

Red EF Falcon - Driven around by those who would say the car was "choice ay" in a low-socioeconomic suburb of Campbelltown. First of, 14" slotters (these on any Falcon later than XEs are wrong). Every edge of each panel and every seam has chrome edging added on. More clip on door reflectors/protectors than you could poke a stick at. Top it off is the EL GT middle scoop and EL XR vents double sided taped on. Still had 4wd susp

NA Fairlane - Driven around by a guy who looks like the bald older dude off Mythbusters, but with a very thick bushy moustach. Resprayed really rich purple, almost Cadbury colour. On that it has blobs of chrome everywhere. Chrome 14" slotters, Chrome Pinstriping, Chrome door rub strip chrome edging around the doors, Chrome wheel arch flares, Chrome LTD grill. With that it has the EB GT and Cosworth Sierra bonnet vents.

Early 90s Sonata, blue, with red custom mudflaps (cut in a zigzag at the bottom, and painted 13" auscar alloys red.

I think that Magna is not a VR-X - it is a "Sports" - Im sure the VR-X has different wheels. Dont be fooled by the VR-X sticker.

I agree about stickers, aftermarket bulges, stripes etc on Fords that are not supposed to be there. But then I dont like stripes at all on BA/BF, regardless if GT or not. Less is more. Keep it simple and clean, on the new models at least.

I dont like Altezza lights on AUs (why do I see them on AUs all the time?) or Commodores.

Spinning wheels.

Hyundai Excels with "Hyundai Racing" stickers on the windscreen. Playboy stickers and car set covers.

I saw an XR6 NA the other day on the freeway with a GT rear wing. Ugh.

One thing that I find quite unappealing (Im sure not many will agree with me) is a really great sounding V8 Ford with a really nice exhaust, idling at the lights, burbling away and a great sound on takeoff! Then you hear the first change and its an auto.... Thats just me though.
