There was some problems early on about the money i thought. and ION in Altona abandoned the engine block project in 2004.

Are the blocks still casted in Mexico.

The heads were made in wingfield South aus.

A mate asked me if the holden v6 was totally made in aus. i said the falcon 6 is but i am not sure about the holden v6 block casting.

Are the toyota aurion v6 engines fully imported hear.
ION went bankrupt which forced Holden to source these V6 blocks from overseas.

No, GM bought holdens motor body builders in the 1930's

The Hydramatic gearbox that Holden succesfully used in the EK (1961) was fully imported. At the time Ford switched from the Zephyr to the all-American XK Falcon.

The GM V6 is a global engine, but Holdens might be a little different internally, but not much.

The Falcon I6 Its pretty much all different from EA to BA. The block is all different, the crank is longer to run the oil pump off it, no auxilary drive etc. The only thing that has stayed similar are the conrods, but they now have oil squirters since BA.

ION was in the process of building an alloy foundry to cast the Holden V6 blocks when they went bust. So Holden have always used block castings from Mexico.

Not sure about the complete engine, but the same block is/was used in the V6 Alfa Romeo 159 AWD, and also in SAABs.

I think they were, but it was essentially a FWD Buick engine converted to RWD, and what a piisss poor job they did at that, resulting in the harshest most rattly engine ever fitted to an australian car, the VN V6.

Like a washing machine full of spanners.

I hate those things. Is there much difference between the VN Buick things and the VS/VT-VY Ecotects? My wife has a VT commy. Tops up the petrol and fills up the oil. Won't die though. No maintenance until I met her. 240,000 and still going.... Sounds like a bucket if spanners though.

Also noticed the V6's lack of torque compared to the BA's. It just takes so many more revs to get the thing moving. I rarely need to go past 2,000.

I think they put a lot of work into the later Ecotecs, solely because the original one was so rubbish and needed it so badly.

The first VN V6 were a joke ! i was looking at buying a VL turbo then test drove the new VN i could not believe it as the V6 was like chaff cutter i could not stand that rubbish at all but they got better VR was ok and the VS is good but i have come across a lot of difference in performance with the VS V6 some are gutless and some fly.

So it looks like the truth is with our falcon 6 that the head is cast in Mexico but machined hear and the cams come from China from BA on ?

The Holden aloytec V6 is all cast in Mexico but machined hear now but early aloytec heads were cast hear ?

Not exactly. I just find poor spelling and grammar irritating.

The only reason it was rubbish is because it did not have chop springs at the back and slapped on the ground. According to young VN drivers this mod makes the VN fully hetik and sick to drive.
