Here's a couple of good threads on clubs.

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11190728

I'm currently using a set of Top Flite Tour Clubs. Looking to upgrade to a set of FatShafts come Christmas.
Went to the range yesterday to hit a few balls. Noticed I hit a lot better when I bent my knees a bit more and stuck my bum out, and that was with the normal address (Not the one below).

Also tried the hybrids for the first time. Jury is still out on these, No.3 Hybrid is fine, went almost 200mt, but No.4... I'd much rather an iron.

Cheers

I play most weekends.

Name was in the paper today, won the long drive at the Lord Majors Cup on Saturday. That was about my highlight. Shot 17 over the card. Handicap is 14.

I use GCR clubs, they are now a couple years old but I certainly like them. I haven;t hit the ball cleaner in years. As for balls, I use the new soft Bridgestones.

Cheers

be careful of ebay when buying clubs as there are alot of fake chinese imitations that will basically break after a few rounds.
but if your looking for new irons i highly recommend mizuno wont ever use anything else.
p.s they dont just make blades but all there clubs use a soft steel which feel really good

Golf ball help required!!!
Can anyone recommend a good ball for high-wind areas?
Our course is on the coast, and man oh man it's tough going when there's a strong wind warning out.

Cheers

Havent played in a month or two because I stepped up my cricket practice. Picked up my first club last Jan and play off 17 today (have since late last year). Hoping to get some time now that cricket is over for the year to drop that Handicap . :

You will want a low spin ball. Which ball depends on your budget for balls. Generally the word distance on the ball is the giveaway, but not always.

As for a good golf forum, www.iseekgolf.com is an Australian golf site with lots of people looking to help out and a section dedicated to asking questions about golf instruction. The whole site is free too. I am a member there, so I may be a lil biased :

I'm going to give the Callaway HX Tour a crack tomorrow to see how it goes. Sounds like the ball I need.
I swing for a fade most times, but with the wind it can really throw the ball out to the right.
Some good deals to be had on Drivers from the US at the moment too.
Cleveland Launchers look to be the GO. I've tried the Sasquatch/Sumo from Nike, not a huge fan at all. So I'll give Cleveland a go.

Had a round on Friday morning, hit every drive well over 220mt.
Have finally got my swing sorted, and am now enjoying the game again.

Cheers

Yea life is sweet when it all comes together. The HX and HX Tours will give you more spin, but that will also accentuate any sideways movement you may put on the ball. The best way to combat high wind situations is to keep the ball low. The punch shot is a winner here. Have a look at Vision Golfs offerings for golf balls. They make a quality ball.

I`ve been playing now for 2 years, try to get out at least once a fortnight, but work, family, the footy, V8s, cricket, get in the way sometimes. I play in the high 80s. I`ve found the MAXFLI A10 Tour and the Bridgestone e6+ are pretty good balls and dont break the bank. As far as spin on the ball if you hit the ball properly, feet in the right spots, shoulders square, knees bent, back straight, tongue and left testicle in the right position, it WILL NOT matter what brand ball you use

Cheers for now guys

I enjoy a good punch shot, so I'll keep them in mind.
I've changed my address/takeaway. Gone for a low/slow backswing, then really rip into it. Seems to have cured my shanks and most of my miss-hits. Am also loving the hybrids! I still like a good 4 Iron, so it can stay in the bag for the time being.
Comp on tomorrow so we'll see how I go!

Cheers

Love em or hate em, they are the best ball in golf hands down. All you can complain about is that they spin too much, or go too far.. : That said, at $8-9 a ball they just ain't for everyone... :togo:

You're not wrong there! I 3 putted the first hole, then I changed my style similar to the YouTube Video. Majority were ones, with some twos. Haven't putted that well since when I used to play full-time. Worked bloody well!

Shot 46 today. Par for the course is 35. Handicap for 18 holes is 28.
Hit some monster drives today, 3w worked well off the fairway too.

Direction seems to be a small issue with my irons, still hanging a few out left.
No problem with ball striking, not one miss-hit iron shot all day.
Dropped one ball in the water, only downer for the round.

I enjoyed hitting my Hybrids today. Used to steer clear, but I've got them working quite well now.

Tried the Srixon Soft Feel... Seemed to work well for me.

Cheers

I've only started playing regularly over the past few months, although I've had enough driving range time to get my swing fine tuned. Haven't got myself a handicap, but based on my past rounds, I could probably play consistently around 10 or so if I made sure I didn't try to belt the ball to kingdom come.

The closest course to where I live is a little 9 holer with 7 par 3s and 2 short par 4s. I shot +3 there last week and will be going back next weekend with some guys from my church for a bit of a friendly "championship".

My bag's primarily Shark brand clubs with a Wilson hybrid 4. Still looking for the most complementary ball for my style, but I found a Nike Distance ball during my last round that turned out to be a corker, so I need to do some research and find out what type it actually is. Otherwise I have Maxfli D-TECs and a few PGF Concordes that are proving ot be reasonable balls.

Yeah i've been playing once or twice a week. Went out yesterday on a 60 course and shot a 62 so i'm very happy with that. have been playing for about 12 or so years but missed out on a couple in there when i bought my house and no one else wanted to play.

I use a set of Maxfli Missile Plus clubs which are for sale as i will be upgrading soon, they are a bit short for me now. And i use either Callaway Warbird Distance balls or Maxfli MaxPower distance balls as soft covers dont seem to like a bit of sideways spin.

Some people might be interested in this mob www.lindgolf.com.au

I play off 9 although haven't been playing much in the last few months. Had a game 5 weeks ago and scored a 6 over for 18 with 3 balls over the fence so i was pretty happy.

Just went out to the range, and hit about 30 balls with the driver.
It's the first time I've really been able to control my swing enough to really rip into it.
Most traveled around 230mt, ground was mud so they all plugged.
Am bloody happy with that!!!

Cheers

Went out and shot 44 today for 9 holes.
Ended up winning, and slashing the handicap!
