I bought mine because i wanted a bit more power than a 4cyl
It had more options - power options and sunroof
It was the right price

I am now moving onto my 3rd ford, i just think they make a really good car!

Similar - went to buy a 1998/99 VT SS commodore in 2000 and the 1998 XR8 was around $5k cheaper; haven't looked back since.

Dad owned a Ford that used to do a ripper skid, so that planted the seed.

I used to be on the dark side my first car was an HK 186 3 on the tree crash box I owned a number of kingwoods / premiers I even raced an HD stock saloon but then came the dunnydore the first ones were smaller than the Kingswood / falcon and I liked a bigger car. But I did own 1 VK, then came the Buick V6, that was the end of Holden loyalty for me. The engine tooling was sold cheaply to Holden from Buick because it was such a bad engine.
in 1990 I started work selling new falcons in Sydney and the first drive converted me this was the first of the EA 4 speed autos the falcons were roomier for the driver ( I have long legs) smoother and more comfortable in general. then came the launch of the EB XR8 at eastern creek a few weeks before they hit the showroom floor we went to Eastern creek and got the drive the XR8 back to back with a dunnydore, the theme was "drive the difference" I was Impressed, so impressed I now consider a falcon to be my one and only option when buying a car, ( dreaming of an F6 as I type this)

Many years of the old man forcing Fords down the families throat. I've owned 10+ Fords over the years including my last two. If I bought a Holden, the old man wouldn't let me park it in his driveway.

I think I'll always be biased towards Ford but I'll never be blinded by it. I've owned 3 Holdens and an HSV. I work friggen long and hard for my dollars, I'd never spend it on a car I knew was inferior just because of the badge on the grille. All things being equal, I'm going Ford.

Today, Ford have a turbo 6 and a supercharged V8 that makes it pretty easy for me to decide where my dollars go.

A) I like Ford
B) My previous Fiesta was a great car
C) My current Fiesta suited my needs perfectly. Roomy, yet nimble, handles great, corners well, sips fuel, yet can still get going without too much fuss and best of all can still fit four in relative comfort.
D) The Fiesta, IMHO, is tcar best car in its class. Looks great, drives great, it's just a great, well rounded package. It does have its flaws, but what car doesn't.

Overall, very happy with my car. Bought it new in 2009 and haven't really looked back.

Back when I wasn't into cars at all, I saw a BF XR6 when they first came out and I thought, well, I really like the look of that, to be promptly told "Why its a Ford, it'll only break down".

Well, I've owned 2 new Fords and they've given me no issues.

Ever since my grandfather emigrated to Australia in 1976 it's been only Australian cars. He often tells me stories of his countless X-series. From the coupe GT's to the ESP's (Favourite: a canary yellow XD). He kicks himself for selling those cars. A short venture to the dark side when the VH-VL was released, but he instantly went back to the real cars! Our family consists of:
- 1982 XE ESP with worked 351
- 1992 EB S XR6

- 2 x AU Fairmont Ghia's
- My BF Ghia

That doesn't include the small, 4 cylinder, Fords. We are blue blooded!

i didnt want a ford. i was happy with my 2L turbo sportscar.. until it was written off one early morning heading to work.

So with funds being somewhat limited, i wanted a ute, i wanted a v8.. and what holden offered at that price was not even close to the ute i ended up with... it was purely boxes ticked, bang for buck and it looked good.

Me(15 or 16): I dont know, excel, accent or something, I dunno.

End up looking at an el and buying it, hooked on the falcons ever since.
While I grew older I fell in love with the older models( Now ive got a ZH)

The old man always owned and raced Fords, naturally he always had a Falcon as a tow car. For me its like supporting a football team, you stick with them for life. They're reliable and cheap to maintain/fix.

Had always liked cortinas. So about 10 years ago baught myself a $200 MK4. Set of kidneybeans/ Got engine running/ Called in a favour from a painter i knew. I loved her. Drove her for 6 months before a girl in a telster rear ended me at an intersection. Insurance payout(replacement value) $1500 (after appeal). Couldnt find equivalent for less than $5500.
Eventually got sick of biking to work in rain whilst looking for cortina. So baught an Ex taxi ED sedan.
In the time since New engine, 2 new diffs, new suspension, wheels, bushes, interior, trans cooler, extractors, etc etc etc. have full set of hanging panels ready for paint.
Sometimes people tell me i should have started with a better shell, But i wanted to do up MY ED sedan.

I bought a Ford because it was my Fathers. Who had maintained it himself. I am a Ford man... like my father, and his father before him. My Aunty and her husband own Fords, and their kids. My brothers own Fords.

We wouldn't consider anything else but a Falcon. Nothing.

Relatively inexpensive to purchase and readily available second hand, cheaper parts, cheaper servicing, better bang for buck.

Had an XF Wagon growing up. Great times.

My dad sold his 69 model XT GT back in the seventies for four grand or something ridiculous. White with a red pin stripe. It had a worked 302 from the bloke he bought it from. And the guy had fitted the 4 barrel carb from the not be phase four GT-HO apparently. The when Dad had the rings down. Ports polished I think... and Lukey exhaust put through. It was 4 on the floor with a 'competition clutch' (Which mum couldn't drive). He used to tell me stories of how he'd take that thing to the limits. 145mph from Sydeny to Newcastle.

Now seeing the price GT's go for... he kick's himself every time.

Well truth be known.. I was a Valiant man first and foremost, but when they passed away.. Well, how can I put this? I always had respect for Fords, and the folks who drove them seemed a bit like the Valiant crew, there was mutual respect if you like, unlike the Holden crowd who hated everything! So when the time came to get another car it was a Ford!! I have had an EB, EL, AU, BA, BF, and now the FG, all been great cars rate the EL and FG as the best.

Growing up I was a holden nut. Then when I was 15 I spotted and bought my first ford which was a modded XF panelvan. Searching for more power I traded my dirt bike for a VN commodore. This was the biggest mistake of my life and big learning curve. I got it home and was a never ending nightmare so got rid of it and have been ford ever since. These days I am a die hard ford fan although appreciate a nice holden. I find fords are nicer looking, more comfortable, ride better, sound better and are a whole lot more reliable. I am 20 now and own a few fords that I absolutely love (EF Ghia, XE fairmont351, XE S-pack, XF S-pack, XR wagon and more lol)

My Dad was a car fan full stop. One of his best cars was a black hq with transam front and 350 chev but it got stolen a few times and he sold it. The whole time i was growing up my dad had fords/holdens and i always wanted to help him fix em. My swaying point was his TC cortina wgn that he bought and he was in his shed tryin to get it running. He stuffed the timing and it caught on fire lol. Then he bought an xf sedan 6 auto when they were still pretty new and he changed the paint and we were cruisin through Minto nsw in style.
Needlesss to say the first car i bought was a cortina and then when the rust took over i sold it and got my first xf and done a 351c conversion. I have owned 30+ fords now but i still have 2 cortinas, 1 xe, 1 xd, 1 ef Fairmont ghia 5ltr, 1 maverick and 2 ef 6cyl. FORD is my life when it comes to cars, my missus comes from a straight holden family and ive got her hooked lol. FORD for life.
