Default Re: Car Scene - Germany vs. Australia

just thought of a point of interest here...... maybe.

germany landmass ........... 350,261 sq km

australian landmass...........7,692,030 sq km

germany population .......... about 80,000,000

australia population........... about 23,000,000

we have an awful lot of landmass to cover with the black stuff and not nearly the same population as other countries to pay for it.

Supposedly the Germans came out here in the late seventies to help understand why the Opal-platformed VB Commodore was having so many suspension failures in pre-release testing. When they checked the measurements of force the cars where encountering on "average" Australian roads, apparently their comment was that I would probably be cheaper to fix the roads than reinforce the car to cope ...

The people are great there. Very respectful and all bonkers for cars but completely calm drivers. No superiority complexes. My family are from Stuttgart and I had a chat with my Aunt in her seventies for an hour about F1. Great food too.
