Series 1-3 standard diff should have at least been a 3.23! Why, why, why the 3.08! LOL!

I do however really like the swooping S1 bonnet. Much more than my S2 SR actually.
I do like the rear wagon headrests on the S1, deleted from S2-3.
I do like the S1 low coolant sensor, deleted from many S2-3's.
I do like the real S1 Tickford oil pressure gauge, not the fakey job on the S2-3.

There's probably more! LOL!

My wagon has a 3.23

The sun visor is my #1 hate. In every other car I've owned it folds flat against the windscreen. In the AU it doesn't fold much past bottom dead centre & blocks out too much of the view ahead... pull it back to a reasonable height and it's only centimetres from my head and very claustrophic.

And for the wagon specifically, a proper fold-flat rear seat (heck, the XD had one!) and a tailgate release handle... just too much penny-pinching there Henry.

As for the styling, well it gets more mainstream with every passing TJ Magna (the only car with a full-nappy look on the front LOL) or current-model Toyota or Honda (apart from the Euro).

grille is the worst on the series 1 forte... an EA style would have looked so much better
hawk grilles look hoon on a series 1

the wierd dash buldge and like many people have siad putting in aftermaket CD player does take some modding to look right. they should of had CD players standard right from the start.

that 4wd look.... thank god for aftermaket springs

pointy tail lights and front indicators are the only pointy bits on the car, they should of squared them up a bit (maybe not quite like a BA)

the front windows going sideways on going up....grrr (happens alot with tinted I am told)

but on the plus side its so dam reliable...

Wife has a Series 1 Futura 150k and mines a S1 Forte Xcab with 817k and its on the original motor still and doesnt use bugga all oil between changes (10k) so am pretty happy reliability wise

If you have a problem with your windows sticking try a bit of silicone spray in the window tracks. Will help it a lot.

I would only change the part where the dash meets the center console, to make it look as if they are - from the same car....... :

And resale value lol.

I have to disagree. The four speed automatic boxes from ea to AU are all on death row. They are very weak. The best box I have seen so far was the 3 speed c4 gearbox. I must admit I even tried to destroy the c4 and it just kept going!!

Dude if you try to run more power than the box is designed for expect it to break.

Yer I know .My first box was repalced under warranty with everything standard in one week of ownership.90 rwkws from a standard au is hardly enough power to get tow 5 passengers. My kids love kinder surprise but ford should not be putting those parts in..

the one thing i'd change about au.....more wins when they were running them in the v8s. i still reckon the au supercar is one of the best and most 'racey' looking cars in recent history

Series 1 forte ride height, wheel package and brakes were very bad
Should of been an inch to two inches lower, 16 inch mags standard, better air con and a spoiler.
