As long as it has twice as much torque (nm) as power (kw), that's the most important thing to me.

I tend to think there’s something to the connection even if it’s subliminal. I think most people like the idea of being associated with a winner; there’d probably be no motorsport if this wasn’t the case.

Toyota sell more cars than anyone else and they're rubbish at F1

But you're right, many many cars are sold based on their 'racing heritage' including things like Protons with their flimsy Lotus connection.

That's just it though. Subliminally, joe average sees his SS as a "winning" vehicle. Hence the purchase. Suppose there was no V8SC? I wonder if ford and Holden would sell performance vehicles in such numbers?

Game. Reinvented.

1996 BMW 740iL V8. TV, phone, leather, sunroof, satnav, all as standard. Now with 19" TSW Brooklands, 2 1/2" stainless steel exhaust, plus more coming soon.

Personally i don't think it would make any difference to HSV/FPV sales...

I too agree with this.

The whole "mine is bigger than yours" thing is silly but its a fact of life, keeping up with the Jones etc.

So those in the know understand that a car is more than a badge and numbers, and those who think they understand sleep with motor, wheels et al under their pillow.

At the end of the day its not actually about driving fast, having more power, its knowing that you can do it if you wanted to. Its almost a power trip.

Again, completely immature but thats part of the fun. Plus it gives us something to talk about..LOL

So i voted no, but I think Ford has finally figured out that street cred and looks can play just as big role as raw performance. No one is going to buy it if it looks like a hat full of a holes.

Im actually quite interested to see how HSV and the E2 fair over the next few months.

I agree with your assessment however the "fans" you describe buy VN's and EA's... Not FG's and VE's...

The majority of new car buyers are a bit more mature and discerning than that... and as we're all too aware of forums rarely reflect the views of the majority of buyers..

hehe true. They usually try and win an argument about why there car is superior by saying things such as "just cos", and when they cant back it up they just start shouting and then no one cares...

Or giving stupid examples like "my mates commy smashed a falcon off the lights the other day"; when in reality the falcon was towing a horse float.

Back OT..LOL....What is amusing is that these people that really take in media BS, numbers, badges etc are the ones Ford needs to try and sway; perhaps Ford just need to dumb down their adds.
