Well think of it this one one may be 1/10th quicker here or there but a couple of hundred on a CAI or airflow etc would make them equal go the one that makes YOU feel better and if its for day-to-day just buy the 2nd one lol

Yea it would depend how much quicker A was to B as well. when I was young, I had a mini cooper s with a 1300 cc motor that felt damn fast (which happens when ur bum is 4" off the ground) but it wasn't that fast at all. Given a choice I would have (and did) swap it for something faster.

Go for feel 4Vman.

It’s got to have the feel good factor when you are driving it, and if you can get that feeling at 6 or 7/10ths of it’s performance rather than having to max it out to 10/10ths to get a similar feeling then good luck to you.

It can be a bit of a mug’s game buying based on performance numbers (especially if the difference between the two options isn’t that great) as most cars can be made to accelerate faster, brake better and handle better. The key phrase in your opening post was “not inclined to be a weekend track warrior” so definitely go for feel

I’ve had/got some cars that aren’t top shelf performers (Early 70’s Datsun 240Z & 260Z’s, early 70’s Honda Civic (72 CID of throbbing grunt), an 8 year old Honda Integra (that has done a lot of track days and is still pretty stock)) in the ultimate scheme of things but I still love driving them because of how they make me feel.

(and if the Windsor engined car feels quicker than the Cleveland engined one then buy it).

No disrespect to the OP, but get the car that fits everything you want in a car. If we all listened to everybody else on what to buy most of us would probably end up in cars that we dont like. All my mates drive modded Holden V8's and mate they hammered me to get one when I traded my XR8, but all I had ever wanted was a Typhoon when they came out in 04, now I have one I couldnt be happier, I love everything about the car and have never regretted buying it even though all my mates with V8's think its a peice of **** because it isnt one. I still very much love my V8's and no doubt will get one again in the future(S/C GT sounds good) but I am more than happy with what I got for the moment.

is this an arguement about who would buy a Typhoon over a GT??? Sounds like it is this debate, but avoiding getting angry biased comments....

BUT the other car of consideration, vehicle b) definitely "feels" faster "seat of the pants" to drive.. all other aspects between both vehicles are roughly equal in your mind, Some more background..
You are not inclined to be a weekend track warrior, the vehicle is a daily driver and for the occasional spirited weekend enjoyment..

The big question, Which one would YOU purchase?

It's a no brainer and would always be option B for me.
The car which feels better to drive is the car you will enjoy most. The figures on paper are useless (unless you are on the race track)LOL, and may as well be used as bogroll.LOL

Please dont try to tell me what I do and don't do, I'm not a sheep.

This car being my every day driver, of course fuel economy is a bonus factor.

P.S. whos worried.... I get great fuel economy.

what I chose was the car I preferred - are there faster cars in existence, I would say yes. Are there nicer looking cars out there, well that's a yes too, I chose the car that I wanted. I got one simple as that. 4vman if you make a purchase to please anybody but yourself you have sold out, buy what you want and when people attack your decision (they always do no matter what) file that in your dilligaf folder and move on.

And it is my belief that any and all cars can be altered to go faster or handle better or whatever you like should your car be lacking in some area.

and are blinded by a simple hypothetical question.

Being so close in comparison i would steer away from numbers and buy the car that makes you want to go to the garage just to look at it.

I'd buy the one I like the most (numbers and how fast dont bother me as I will modify it anyway) as for you couldnt care less which car you bought, IMO I think this a fishing thread to get people to argue over various types of cars more so probably to start an argument over the V8's and turbo's. I dont care as I like both anyway.

If I purely use my car for the road use then B, if it involves any off street action then A all the way. Anything can be modified to be faster. Being faster, more efficient actually means something otherwise we'd all still be in XF taxies. There is nothing wrong with buying with your heart instead of your head, but saying you like the V8 because it sounds great is no different than your partner saying she likes a certain style ring because it makes her fingers look thinner.

OLD SCHOOL 8 all the way for me. love the feeling love the looks love the sound. might not be nowhere near as quick or handle as good. but its something i enjoy driving and love to look at. might not be a real Performance car in some people eyes but its what i go for over anything else. I pay for the fuel so i dont care how much it chews up.

This poll is very interesting. It really does highlight members' perceptions.

Various are convinced that this is a thinly veiled F6 vs V8 or T6 vs V8 whereas it could just as easily be one of the other hotly debated (and often mass debated) subjects such as:

T3 vs GT
XR6 vs XR8
FPV vs HSV
Alloytec vs DIVCT I6
Ecotec vs Intec
ZF vs ION
auto vs manual
supercharging vs turbocharging
windsor vs clevo
anything that is not BOSS vs BOSS
etc. etc. etc.

The only conclusive trend I can deduce is that for many members emotion clearly over rules logic or to put it in layman's terms, the little head thinks for the big head........

Without pointing out what the cars are how does anybody know? For all we really know it could be a VH V8 commodore vs an XU1 torana, on paper the commodore is faster but seat of the pants feel the torana would feel quicker, hypothetical theory Im not sure of real world figures of either it was just used to provide a point. It still would come down to personal preference of any car.

usually cars that feel faster have the power in better places.
ie an alloytec VZ is acutally faster than an ecotec VY in 0-100. Which one feels better? The VY. Which one brings a smile to your face? The VY. Which one do i have overtaking confidence in? The VY.
