yes you did because if you go ahead and have it done at least you made an informed choice, thats why I started this thread , when you make a decision on any medical procedure you need all the facts

I had mine when I was 34 (6 years ago), my current wife (I have 2 ex's that were as painful as driving a TR Magna) was 40. I had to go to 3 doctors at the time, as the doc that did it thought I was too young at the time. I finally got it done - 3 years later we went on IVF (got it first go, so all good)

Got mine done today.... And bugger me did it hurt. Obviously it happens to people as it is not 100% painless. Single incision and under a local, albeit administered a few times

Reading some responses in this thread makes me cringe indeed
A thread appeared on this forum in the past regarding whether the original poster should get a vasectomy as he was young and never planed on having kids. The most answers he got were I think "just use a condom".

I'm also a younger person with no intention on having kids and I would never get a vasectomy - It's just my choice. Just because I don't see myself having kids now doesn't mean things can't change in future. Plus as Quagmire says you can't have a cobra without venom

I'm assuming if the swelling is localised to one side, its an epididymal cyst/hydrocele ? Is aspiration an option as a short-term treatment?

i had the "op" 18 years ago and just recently started getting some pain on my left side, feels like my pipes down their are all swollen. i figured it might be a slight hernia or something. maybe i'll go to the Doc and get it looked at..

still ... I'd rather this than a lifetime of unwanted children... we already have enough kids..

I have heard that the snip can boost your "line pressure" through the roof, enabling all manner of technical stunts concerning distance.

Is this true?

as long as it stays that way fine but if you get like I was you'll know it. I couldn't sit for any period of time and couldn't sleep without pain killers

I had it done when I was 35, 54 now no probs so far. Call me a wimp but I had done under general in a hospital. I was more than happy to walk home afterwards but they wouldnt let me. Hardly felt a thing. I guess it depends on how you have it done.

Don't get turned off my these comments. I think the long term benefits out weigh the risks and pain. Just look at the numbers.

I think the biggest issue for me was the expectation that was set that a) the procedure would be pain free, and b) recovery would be easy over a couple of days.

So if you prepare yourself for 7 days of pain and mild discomfort, with then another 7 days of minor discomfort, then you'd be fairly accurate.

hahhaaaa that's a crack up!
"No" is the answer. The line pressure is increased from the snip back into the epididymus (the storage squiggle on the side of the testis). From the snip to the exterior via the vas deferens is all open. The actual product you see at the fun end of a love session is mainly from the seminal vesicles located behind the prostate, and from the prostate juices. Therefore the actual volume and force of ejaculation remains unchanged.

As for complications - I weighed up the complications for the male sterilisation versus for a female. The risks are much higher for a woman to have a sterilisation procedure, and any form of long-term contraception has side-effects. As for condoms...a 5% failure rate per year is enough to put that into the "too high a risk" category for more kids.
