I'm into military aircraft in a big way. had a huge collection of models when i was younger. from memory 1/32 Spitfire, Hurricane, Corsair, Lysander, Dauntless, Beafighter. 1/72 Victor, Comet, F-18, Lightning ( the jet and the lockheed fighter ) , Black window, Lancaster, B24, lots more plus tanks, cars, trucks, battle ships and subs. I had them all sitting at my parents house but dad dumped them all one day. Still peeved he did that. Still have a few kits sitting in the garage waiting for me to build. Would really like to build the 1/72 B36 but have nowhere to put it as it's a big model.

The german tanks from WW2 were awesome machines. Nothing the allies produced came close. The Tigers, King Tigers and Panthers outclassed everything they came up against. The Russian T34 is classed as the best tank from WW2 but the Russians were quite happy to lose 6 T34s for every Tiger or Panther they managed to take out in battle. Shermans were called "Ronson" ( cigarette lighter ) by their british crews as they were gauranteed to light first time. Germans called the shermans "Tommy cookers"

1/72 B-36 would be pretty big.. is it the early model or the later one with the pusher props as well as turbojets? I had a Lancaster and a B-24H, they were hard to store without breaking. Got an unbuilt Ju-52 and HE-177A4.. would love to build em, but I've lost all my glue and paint etc :

Later model B36 with the pusher props and the jet engines. Yes the model is Huge, got it about 10 years ago as I've always been fascinated by that plane. It was after I got it i realised just how big this sucker was going to be when built. So it sits in the garage waiting for us to move to a bigger place. There is a 1/48 B29 hanging in the garage now and the 1/76 B36 would have a bigger wing span than that. I'm guessing around a metre.

Those years.. sort of 47-70 had some crazy planes being developed. B-36, B-47, X-15, XB-70 Valkyrie. Crazy stuff. I had some rare footage of an F-104 hitting a Valkyrie mid flight, both broke up.. bad accident that.

I think I've read through that site about 3 times over :

Tis a great site, endless amusement. Kind of like wikipedia..

I've been reading about airliner accidents lately, very interesting, if a little morbid.

I'm a big collector of old military toys. The older the better. All of my models except the plastic men are either lead, tin, or die cast. My favorite brands are Lonestar, Crescent, Dinky, Astra, and Britains.

Many moons ago, when I existed in NZ, I was a volunteer at a place called MOTAT in Auckland. We stripped off the paint on their Lancaster bomber and prepped it for a new paint job. Hard work, but fun none the less. And very interesting to expore inside the thing.

Bill, I can't get any photos to show on that link? The T34 link below was great, now have a bug to see more of these recovered war relics. Any suggestions on how I can see the Stug photos?

Paul.

Love the old diecast military stuff. Think I have a few boxed away from when I was a kid though they saw quite a bit of action in the backyard in their day. Anyone here old enough to remember going into the toy shops when they were kids? Die cast military stuff in the display wndows plus the S.H.A.D.O.W series sci fi and space 1999 and the old Thunderbirds diecast stuff? And at the back of the shop there was always a huge range of model kits. Airfix was the main brand stocked when I was a youngen along with the AMT cars and trucks.

If anyone is into jets this is a pretty cool vid of a mirage 2000 chasing an Alfa jet.
It's a pretty big file so if you are on a limited or slow download might be best to skip it.

Yea pucka is always good, they've got a few Matilda II's, shermans and grants. Last time I was there they had one of those Strigdvagen S-103 swiss thingies.. madness, its based on the Hetzer/Pzkpfw 38t chassis. Talk about longevity.

Sorry Paul I don't have any ideas that might help, I can still view the pics on my mac but there is another website with lots of recovered relic pictures.

Just follow the prompts to the gallery and there is a huge collection of images of WWII items recovered by enthusiasts.
Cheers
