I finally got a haircut today and thank ****. The mop is gone, my hair was longer than the early or mid 90s!
![]() I went down yesterday hoping the rush was over but lined out the door so said **** that. I went to get my groceries today and noticed there was literally no one there so jumped right in! ![]() I'm guessing with a decent restriction change today everyone was doing something else. Woolies was way dead in comparison to what it has been. |

So the heavier weight shock absorber oil for my rc car came in today. So stock it had 30 weight, but with longer arms and stiffer springs it wasnt terrible, but at times after say jumps or whatever be a tad bouncy and a tad unsettled. But for $12, going to 50 weight, eh if i dont like it it can be changed. So havent made any other adjustments yet as once again the suspension geometry has changed, but on a test run theres deffinately $12 of an improvement.

Ya train mate sounds like every old bloke I know, but he obviously can turn his hand to making trains etc, so he can't be a complete idiot, probably feels out of place in a modern and progressive world and can't catch up!...lol....lot of folk like him, and I've met em all!

So back to rc crap. So whilst the shocks are different with heavier oil in them, its heaps better. But im thinking for best performance, backing down the spring preload on the front a little bit, and backing down the rear a fair bit. Everything so far is an improvement, but things only get better once dialed in.

Just fitted a Billet turbine wheel to my Merc a few swings ago and realised all my Lego and Models were being neglected and how relaxing they actually are to build.

I remember watching them at Oran Park, would of been late 90's, very close up too, loud and smoke, and punchups back of the parking area between drivers after getting nudged a little, lol....

Still pretty happy with all the suspension bits ive thrown at my rc car. Still tweaking the spring pre load after putting heavier shock oil in the shocks, but regardless that made a big difference. So realistically the only other things i can do to the suspension is asthetics, but im a function over form person, so coloured anodized hardware i dont give a crap about if the factory black works.
So this rc car is very different to what ive had in the past. So previously its been 2wd low centre of gravity dirt track racers. So id throw power and gearing at them, handling last. This one is a 4x4 monster truck with a high centre of gravity. So very very different. So being a lot newer running 4s brushless stock, it is way faster in a straight line. Physics is why its not a dirt track racer, it handled pretty good stock. But wider track, springs, rebuilt shocks it handles so much better. Still no 2wd stadium truck on a track, it would get owned in the corners, but for bashing about in the backyard or local park, its a good bit of entertainment. |

![]() It's been a struggle. The 50+ hour power outage was the worst. But I'm here, I still have a roof over my head and everything is ok. My daughters friend lost her family home during the storm last Friday. That's a mum and six kids that now have nowhere to live whilst insurance sorts out a replacement for them. Keeps my relatively small issues in perspective.

So went to adjust the preload on the springs of my rc car after re doing the shocks. So this is on me, the 1st one i did stuff up. It was leaking. So not the end of the world, i made 2 mistakes, didnt seat the bladder properly and didnt tighten the cap enough. So a bit of a wipe and re oil and attempt to get it right, not too bad. Ill wear that. Other 3 shocks were golden. Then i noticed a circlip was missing from an axle. Theyre tiny and i dunno how i even noticed. But i have spares off busted axles i keep for spares. Fiddly yes, but job done. So pre thrash after preload adjustment i measured the front with a spirit level. Post thrash i did the same, it didnt appear to be leaking, but science. So it appears to be good. All this handling business makes the thing a heap quicker. So not faster as the top speed is the same, but qucker as it can launch better, enter corners with more speed, maintain mid corner speed and exit with more speed.

For the first time in 14 days, I was able to get out of the yard. To celebrate. I went for a 6km walk. Could have kept going, too.
Test results for the daughter and I came back today. Both negative. So we're free! Still haven't heard from DHHS either. Whilst I am comfortable with the feeling of having done the right thing, I could have easily been out mingling with the masses. Hopefully life will be back to normal now. Off to visit some friends at their house tomoz night after going out for dinner. After not being able to visit someone else's house for such a long time (so long, I can't even remember how long ![]()

Decided that since I bought a new car battery and am waiting for a new alternator to arrive, thought I would fix the big dent in the bonnet! - sans big boomer kangaroo at 100 clicks, going to be a hard graft in my physical state but shrink and stretch, and then bog and spray can paint, let you know how it works out, may take a while though, have to be right on the ball and pace myself!
Will take before, inbetween and after pics, its a good feeling too! |

Massive workfest yesterday and this morning from early, to throw the Territory back together. Left the house at 11:15, two hours later than planned. My mate took the wheel - it’s his car, so why not?
![]() Drove my 90-odd neighbour to Goulburn, her sister there had been hospitalised after a fall last night, no visiting allowed (which is actually a good sign; it means they think she will mend). So she had a late lunch with her BIL, who is a good mate of mine, each got to see a dear face witheld so long prior, plus a decent phone conversation with the sister in hospital. This stuff is important to me; one may not know when is the last time - so it feels good to help with a visit. Plus an epically rainy drive on the Federal and back at a fair clip, to pick up my correct-for-tray ladder rack. Return to Sydney after collecting neighbour from Goulburn, car ran flawlessly over 600+km. Potato soup with caramelised onion rings for tea, what a day. I’m full of love and happiness; been a really nice time. |
