Default Plane Crash at Bathurst

Have heard through the grapvine that one of the 'fighter' jets has gone down at Bathurst, apparently had a fee paying passenger and pilot on board.

Has only just happened, does anyone know anybody there that can confirm this?

Horrible thing if its true :(

Sky News:
A plane carrying two passengers has crashed north of the New South Wales city of Bathurst.

After searching for four hours, air rescue teams believe they have located the wreckage in the Turon Forest, but ground crews have not yet reached the scene of the crash.

The ex-military Strikemaster jet was on a joy flight.

At this stage it's unclear how the accident occurred.

"Vintage plane" could be anything from a tiger moth to a mustang, time will tell.

The source i heard it from also said that it was a Strikemaster. Apparently rescue crews on the ground now, condition of passengers not yet know but not looking promising.

Heres hoping all okay. Would have been even worse had it crashed into a crowd, horrible enough as it is.

From news.com.au

Two men have been confirmed dead in an aircraft crash in central western New South Wales, Australian Search and Rescue says.

An Australian Search and Rescue (AusSAR) spokeswoman has said an NRMA CareFlight paramedic was winched down to the crash site late this afternoon.

He found two men dead in the wreckage of the aircraft, she said.

The Strikemaster aerobatics plane was on a joyflight when it crashed near Winburndale, about 16km north of Bathurst, about 3.15pm (AEST), authorities have said.

The crashed plane ignited a 4ha bushfire in a state forest.

A Rural Fire Service (RFS) spokeswoman said a State Forests aircraft was waterbombing the fire and about 24 firefighters were on the ground.

Judging from that last picture it was an ex RAF Jet Provest, the trainer version of the Strikemaster
