Default Have set up the PC a little better.

Have setup the computer area with a 15 inch LCD, 2.4 gig wireless feed to the main TV input. (DVD play station or TV - whatever the kids are seeing she can see while working)

I have also put an RF feed into it for normal TV channels.

We also have 4 infrared wireless cameras that are fed into the RCA input so my partner can watch the kids from her desk while the kids play outside. It may sound a little "big brotherish" but it saves her time in working out what is happening with the kids.
By night it also makes a great security camera system, we can "see in the dark" around the house.
The 15 Inch LCD cost $375, the wireless transmitter reciever set cost $59.95, the camera reciever $200 the cameras $100 each.

Default Cameras

Hi mate,

Could you tell me where you got the cameras from?

I'm interested in doing a similar thing where I can link them to my home page and be able to monitor my house, shed, dog etc from any computer by going to my home page.

I presume this wouldn't be too hard to do?

regards
Darren

I know you've already done it but there was no need to buy a second screen. There are programs for just this type of thing that take in all sorts of feeds and display them as needed on PC screen, movement sensors n'stuff.

The cameras came from Jaycar, as did the reciever. I am sure you could work something out

Falconsr, I like to think I get a good price on everything! - How much should I have paid? (It is an LCD TV ?)

Jonk I knew about the screen in screen stuff available, The TV gave me some more flexible uses and mean the PC screen could be full size for work and the camer screen could be full size at the same time.

These are the cameras, note the IR LED's around the lens.

Hmm.. Be carefull that the locals dont think the cameras are there for checking on the next raid in your area

^^lol@^^

No, these days raids do not concern me (I was at uni over 10 years ago!)

It is nice though to be able to sit at the PC and watch what happens outside - Day or night.

The only problem is that when I am on line, the kids want to watch THIS TV and not the big one in the lounge room.

Doubt it, they would be IP56 or higher rated which means you can virtually submerge them in water and all good, they are a sealed unit with serviceable parts, could probably put a j/box over your connections as they probably won't last very long.

TURBOTAXI-Have you got the cameras recording off the hard drive or are they just a "watch camera"??

They are just watch cameras, I have not set up any recording.

I will take the advice on covering the connections.

I know what you mean about walking rather than sitting, my partner is a tiny 52kg, I think I need to walk, not her. I dont have cameras where I work so I walk all the time!
