I have 1974 Mk2 2 Capri 3 litre Ghia auto and want to get a manual trans complete to convert it. I have been lead understand the trans is not the same as a Mk1. Anyone got any ideas where to start? I am 50k NW of Melbourne.

The later mk 1/2/3 had a different gearbox to the early Mk 1s which everyone wants as it has internal linkages. I know of a guy in Sydney with one but he wants $1500 for it.
You are much better off converting to a Supra 5 spd (about $3-500+ dellow bell-housing.) I'm converting my Mk 3 to a 5-speed as the ratios are a lot better....just waiting for a 2nd hand bell-housing to turn up....New ones are quite expensive. |

Thanks mate. Will the supra 5 speed shifter come out in the right spot on the console?

I think you have to trim a little bit out of the hole as the shifter is a little further back. I'm not 100% sure as there are a few different ways of doing the conversion depending on the particular box. I'll have to ask a mate who has done it and get back to you.
