I am not commenting on specific cases. I am merely questioning the whole massive increased diagnosis of this condition. I am no doctor. But what little I have read makes it crystal clear, the jury is still out on this issue.

Hahha yeah I always seem to play against crazy, psychopaths on xbox live. Seems wierd that they allow so much racism and swearing when people under 18 can play but I guess it's all part of the game.

Geez guys I don't know what's funnier, the clip itself or how some of you guys are reacting to it.

It's been around for ages.. it IS fake.. there's a few others similar as well..

Some people have no sense of humour.

It's all part of the ongoing joke how the governments etc keep blaming games for violence.. yet they seem to let ANYTHING through on movies, TV, music, etc.. so people make these clips etc faking insane amounts of violence in reaction to games..

There's another where a kid plays GTA then goes out and blows up his dads car..

If you had done any research in psychology, you would know that an increase in diagnosis of any condition, whether psychological or medical, is often not due to drug companies looking out for themselves, or a willingness to label non existent conditions, but more because of more knowledge.

You will find that many other things are diagnosed a lot more than they used to be, such as cancer. There are many more cases of cancer diagnosed, and many more different kinds of cancer discovered. They always existed, its just that technology and knowledge have enabled doctors and professionals to FIND them, document them and begin research about treating them.

Mental disabilities are one area where society has not kept up with the technology in that it is still the subject of a massive lack of tolerance and understanding in the community. People do not see that a mental disability is just as hard, sad and distressing as someone with a physical disability... but people still call others with mental problems names and label them in inappropriate ways. Would you label a paraplegic or a blind person in the same way? No. But it is no different - one just involves a visible part of the body and another involves a largely misunderstood part of the body - the brain.

ADD and ADHD (which it sounds like this is more like) is a real problem. It does exist and more to the point, it has always existed. Before, we saw ADD type kids as just naughty, or difficult or just bad in general... these days we can identify causes of such behaviour and link the causes to actual conditions which do exist and we can then try and fix them and other similar problems.

It cant be a bad thing when society finds solutions to problems and conditions that we previously knew nothing about.... It means that a lot of people and kids who were well beyond our reach and help can now be identified and helped... rather than being made fun of.

I agree with Angry Beaver 100%. You might all find it funny, but imagine if you found footage of your mentally disabled child on the internet with people laughing at him and poking fun at him? It wouldnt be so funny then, would it?

Where is the line drawn between laughing at this child, and laughing at some "freak" in the circus with some deformity? You might find it hysterical, but I think that says more about your level of knowledge and understanding of such things than about the person with the disability or problem.

Just my point of view.

Oh and the fact that it is fake in no way changes my response to peoples attitudes about ADD and other mental issues on here... and I agree with comments about movies, but I wouldnt choose to watch a movie which purely made fun of someone with any disability...

Well as stated I am no expert in psychology and nor do I pertain to be but what little study I did do in it quite clearly taught me that it is a rather new science and is full of many theories which are constantly evolving as more knowledge comes to hand, as you state. But as I said, there are so many different trains of thought out there, so many variables, one has to question sometimes if we are just over diagnosing or labelling unknown conditions into groups such as ADD. That is my point.

When I eventually have kids, I will limit the time they play. I would rather see them outside in the Sandpit, or running around playing than staring at a screen all day.

Cheers

And I can also choose to sit here and laugh at you because while you are laughing at some poor kid (or other kids) with a real problem, YOU are sitting here justifying why you can laugh at something you dont understand, while trying to convince us while typing sms text and also with very poor grammar and spelling. Im betting that the kid in the footage (and kids like him) probably has a higher IQ than you!

Who cares WHAT psychiatric problem he has? Probably the people who care for him, such as his family. So who cares that YOU may get sick or have a disability or go senile when you are old? If YOU do lose your mind in old age, I hope your kids and everyone around you laugh at you, takes pictures of you when you **** your pants and then post them on the internet for everyone else to laugh at!

But then, perhaps since you will be old enough to know better when you are 80 or so years old, someone should beat you instead. I forgot where abouts in the rule book on mental disability it says that you only have mental issues under a certain age! Your vast education obviously surpasses mine and everyone elses.

I think evolution may have passed you by my friend, as you seem to derive from the time when people with mental disorders were burnt at the stake for being suspected witches or locked in dungeons for their entire lives because they were "mad", or even beaten! Oh I forgot - they didnt understand political correctness... or respect people's rights and dignity.

But hey dude, dont take my post so seriously, Im just having fun at your expense and your post WAS truly hysterical! Your post was so funny that I HAVE already emailed the entire thread to all of my friends and highlighted yours as the funniest part! The phrase "paided out" is getting the most laughs so far.

And its also so funny that you ask where to download it from... if you watched it, then you know that you have already downloaded it and where to download it from (ie the link above)... It is absolutely hysterical that a person old enough to use the internet is not smart enough to figure that out... but perhaps someone should ban you, because you are old enough to know better...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Relax mate, its the internet! :thebirds:
