I have just purchased a second hand AU ute and have couple of questions.
1 Steering wheel is slightly offset to the left. I assume that I can just respline the wheel? 2 There is a clunk in the steering, particually at idle, when jiggling the steering wheel. On investigation, you can see the front aluminium crossmember move and bend. Is this normal? 3 The top part of the drivers door does not seal well, and the door latch does not fit the door well. I cant see any adjustment for the striker plate or hinge. How do you adjust the door fit? Thanks in advance. |

That what all those problems sound like. Check someone to check that out pronto. Sounds like it's been hit in the front right.

Welcome hawke.
1. A front wheel alignment will fix that no problems. 2. If it's a series one, there is a recall for a steering rack issue with the rack mounting bolts. 3. You can adjust the striker plate for the door. Just loosen the bolts and tap with a hammer in the direction you want.

Thanks guys.
I'll have a look at these over the weekend. I suspect that the front alignment is out, as after a trip to Phillip Island last week showed up some feathering on the front tyres. |
