Angry Cabin Squeak :s

Hey guys just after some advice,

I have a two door LR zetec and for a little while now there has been an annoying squeak coming from just below the back passenger side window. Now i took the car to ford and explained what was wrong and they said it would be fixed. After picking up the car, it seemed fine and since im a uni student i dont drive the car that much during the week. Its been about a month since then and now the squeak has come back worse than before, however im pretty sure my car is out of its warranty period now. Im a bit P**sed off at the fact that ford said it would be fixed yet it wasent done properly, now since im out of warranty im not sure what to do... Has anyone had a similar problem? The squeak seems to me like the panels rubbing due to the torsion the car experiences when i turn corners at lower speeds. Do i still have a case if i go back to my ford dealer and explain what is wrong??

Be good to get some feedback,

Cheers Adam

The dealer who worked on your car should provide you with some sort of labour warranty. Different industry... but when I worked for a mobile phone repair place, we had a warranty on our work for 3 months regardless if it was in or out of warranty.

I have many squeeks in my car, then they go away. At the moment i have on in tha same place your describing. Not much you can do about it. The person who serviced it would have just tightened everything. Still id take it back and tell them they didnt fix the problem. If they are decent people they wont charge you.

Completely normal as a car ages, you can't expect it to be as solid as the day you bought it as the metal fatigues. I have a few squeaks when launching hard or when reversing out a driveway, not helped by my lowered springs putting extra stress on the chassis, but it's completely normal.

What if I've had squeaks from the day I bought it and the dealer can't do anything about it? Admittedly they are in the door seals, the car has been back about 10 times for various things since i bought it in september last year and they don't know how to fix it. Any ideas on that sort of creaking?

Replace the door? :P

Sorry... but its probably got something to do with the plastics being stressed before they even went into your car and it might be twisted in some way so now its trying to "untwist" itself.

Try some silicon or white grease on the door locks and hinges. Might help a little, the hinges can dry out especially if you're good at cleaning your car and wipe inside the doors each time you wash like me.

It seems to be more of a 3 door thing though, makes more sense.

It's actually the door seals in my car. They lubricated with armorall apparently it one time it went in and that made a difference for about a week. Can I use this silicon grease on the rubber door seals? The seals themselves are pretty clean. oh the dealer also tried tightening the doors so that they sit closer to the frame, but still no difference except it's harder to close the door hehe. sorry to hijack the thread.

Well if your like me, you wash your car all the time, just make it a ritual to grease up your doors with armoral everytime you clean the interior. Or also if your like me this equasion might seem useful

music + exhaust noise + pod induction noise = drowned out every other sound
