3 clicks, start with a flat battery or dirty terminals

Flat battery. Even though other electrics may work, the starter has the biggest current drain of the entire electrical system. Turn everything else in the car off and try again - you may get lucky! If that doesn't work then jump start is required.

You will need another car to get it started - connect black from donor car -ve battery terminal to a good ground on your car (do NOT use -ve battery terminal), and then the red cable from donor car +ve to your battery +ve. Throttle the donor car up to about 2000/2500/3000 rpm, then try starting yours. It should start.

Oh, check the glovebox and make sure it closes properly. If it's very full, the little light in there will stay on and it will drain the battery overnight.

Fixed - edited my post. I always connect -ve first, but +ve first would work too.

Connect it as svo347 has said
positve donar to positive dead then negative donar to earth dead car, there is no real need to up the revs in the donar car but do let it sit for a while on idle.

The reason i believe you dont connect the negative terminal on the dead car car is to avoid an explosion if there are any gases around and the spark arcs, but could be wrong on this.

The theory is, if you dont connect the neg to the battery as the LAST connection, your less likely of a spark and therefore ignighting the hydrogen gas thats present in the battery.
Ie connect it to a chassis ground as the last connection

Another old theory is to turn youre head lights on... THis can help to take any weird surges caused by old crappy jumper leads that dont make a good connection and have a high resistance . Ive always done it on efi cars never had any trouble.. Defently sounds like a dead battey with the whole 3 click things

HLC - ive always seen the pro's use the alternator body mounts there is a nice part where you can make a good connection on top of it.
