Hi all,i dont know if the following is co incidence or not so if anyone else has had the same problem please let me know...
Awhile back i removed the underbonnet felt liner thingy on my Au2.Now gradually over time my bonnet paint has lost all its gloss and has broken down to look very crappy. Would anyone think that by removing the underbonnet thing that it could ruin the paint on the other side of the bonnet? |

Has the paint degenerated around the exposed areas where the bonnet liner wouldn't cover as well?

No,basically my bonnet has that look of a car that has spent its life parked beside the beach.

my bonnet doesn't actually have a liner, or at least it didnt when i bought it, paint seems fine though?

When took my liner off, I found Ford were a bit slack on the paint application in that area!!!

I took the liner off my TS
It runs at least 3 times hotter than any other AU Not a drama with the bonnet

It is mainly for noise reduction, but also acts as a heat shiled to the paint work, it is possible that excessive heat has baked the paint on the bonnet past its specs and hazed the paint job. I did the same to my XE first off after putting a shaker on it , i removed the bonnet liner when cutting the hole for the shaker , my paint was baked on enamel too , but fried it really quick , went dull then it went crows-feet , repainted it and installed bonet liner again and all was fine .
