Help. I got this in my e-mail

scam.. they are all scams. If your bank has an issue.. it will post a letter or call you. NEVER by email, NEVER.

First tipoff is the .co.uk domain to update your details but .com domains to read about the site... diff domain = dodgy!

Exactly, some how someone took 10 grand from my account, the bank picked up on it and called me before I got out of bed.

Delete it and check your system for trojans etc NOW !! While you were reading the e-mail it could have been installing virus

You can not get a virus from reading an email, unless ofcourse you are stupid enough to actually click on a link provided or download an attatchment from an unknown source. If you receive any email that you dont know who its from or what its on about then just delete it, simple!

Same if its from someone you know. THeir computer may have a virus that spreads itself using their address book.

Or delete it if its a chain letter.

Mate, you'd be suprised how many people actually click the links, open the attachments etc. I've done so many callouts to people that have done it... pitty they dont admit it.

Also, i'm not assuming bjr22n has clicked on the links and installed a trojan, because he probably hasn't.

Thats lucky then.. never click on any link sent via email unless you know the email is coming if that makes sense...
Like if you sign up with a forum etc then you know a verification email is coming.. they are usually the only links I click...

Well my mistake, I have become real paranoid since someone so easily took hold of my bank account. I did get the money back because I did every thing right, but man it is scary stuff

a virus/worm/trojan can actually be set off from just reading an e-mail if you have your mail settings to accept incoming html e-mail ( e-mails that look like a webpage with pictures and color and stuff when you read them) , stick to just text/txt e-mails ;) ... but yes the big killer in trojans and viruses etc is usually in the attatchments

I've had scam e-mails from ANZ and Suncorp.

I don't even bank with them, that's why I figure they're scams.

Exactly what I was about to say.

Definitely keep your email on text only.. especially if you use outlook, as most people do.

Just opening an HTML email, or even -viewing- a website is enough to get infected with something these days.

Thats right , also with outlook express DO NOT allow it to run as a server in your firewall settings to recieve mail why you are not using it , as soon as you recieve the e-mail form your e-mail server - close off any server access to OUTLOOK . ! - this is a killer if to you if you leave OUTLOOK allowed to connect and run as a sever constantlly in your firewall settings while not using Outlook. !

Yeah, I got the same sort of e-mails.. Asked chase about it and they said don't reply/open/click links etc etc and just ignore them.
