shakers:- an air ram that draws cold air thru a catcher that pokes thru the bonnet.. So called shaker because of the cammed motors that they originally came on.. On idle/acceleration the engine would move around on the cam, hence the scoop would 'shake'

Thermo's:- electric fans for cooling.. To draw cold air in or blow away hot air

Shaker = bonnet scoop on XY GT, and now it's making a comeback

A thermos is also what you keep your coffee or soup hot in lol

Thermos = a device for keeping drinks warm.

shaker because on the XY's etc the scoop was attached to the top of the air filter box and the bonnet had a hole for it to poke thru..
so as the engine moved about doing what motors do.. it shaked..because it was attached to the engine.. not the bonnet like a WRX scoop or regular fibreglass bug catcher
