Default Is the AU V8 Tickford ECU any different from standard power wise? Best place for ECU tune.

I bought an AU V8 to get the GT40P heads & inlet manifold to put in my NF Fairlane.

I did a std rebuild on the bottom end, put a custom mild cam in (To use stock convertor) & 1.7 Crane roller rockers, larger inlet valves, pocket ported & shaved heads to get 9.5:1 CR, 4 into 1 headers\extractors, lager exhaust, std injectors & throttle body. It goes & sounds good.

Haven't dynoed it but it should be up around the 220 mark (Crank) same as the Tickford but here's my question;

Was the Tickford ECU modified for more power?

Would it pay to get it tuned & by whom in the Ballarat\Geelong\Melbourne area?

Being a 96 model I would have to put a mod chip in to change settings, yes?

What sort of money are we looking at for what sort of power gain (Approx)? Will it affect mileage greatly? That said I have LPG injection too so mileage isn't a big thing.

Thanks

They were modified, got more timing across the board is one difference
MAF sensor were same for 185-220kw so no difference in MAF Curve
Cant comment on fueling side though!

It would pay, the factory ecu runs stupidly rich from factory and you have a heap of mods that the ecu isnt calibrated for.

Quarterhorse on the j3 port

about $1000 give or take for Quarterhorse setup and Innovate LC-1 WB02 sensor, then between 600-800 to have someone tune it if you dont do it yourself

Thanks mcfly94. I am a technician by trade & whilst I know nothing about tuning ECU's I would love to learn. I can program my injected LPG via a laptop but that's easy. I build, network & fault find on computers & can program phones systems (PABX's) of all sizes right up to ones that could service medium size towns so I have the basics & as I said would love to learn. That said it still might be beyond me but I wont know till I try.

B.P. Racing are selling this for $655 so I might give it a go; This system lets you have 4 different modes via a switch so I could do economy & power petrol & the same for LPG.

As long as I save the original settings I'll have something to go back to. I have a spare ECU if things go horribly wrong.
