Default Engine cut out during hard accleration

Hey guys new here, just got an Au3 Forte, and really happy so far. Couple of probs though

1. During hard acceleration, the engine sometimes cuts for half a second, a problem that only seems to occur with less than a 1/4 of a tank of fuel. Fuel line prob??

2. When driving very slow or parking (less than 10km/ph i get a intermitent vibration thru the real wheels.

Car is still under dealer warranty but would like to have an idea what it is before i drop it in.

Loving the forum guys...look forward to more posts...
Jono

Vibration in back wheels are your brakes. 100%

Cut out is most probably fuel starvation or fouled/bad spark plugs

I get the same problem. Some other AU XR8 and T-Series guys get the same problem. They narrowed it down to a swirl pot problem and not a large enough fuel pump (I believe). I'm not sure whether mine does it just because i dont have enough fuel or what. It's when i turn a fair size corner, and have 3/4-full throttle, the car momentarily loses power, and your head flies forward, then kicks in again, and you get thrown backwards.

According to some of the guys that got it fixed, you have to show Ford that it's a problem, and it should be fixed under warranty. I.e. Take a Ford mechanic for a drive, and try and throw their head into the dash.

I'll find the link about it.

I used to get the same thing accelerating hard off a roundabout (turning left) and only with less than 1/4 of a tank. Ford changed something in the fuel tank (filter / float / something) and it has been good since.

Try switching the traction control off (if you have it). I find that when accelerating suddenly from standstill and turning there is a slight cut off or flat spot and sometimes it feels as though the wheels lock for a moment until you ease off. When switching TC off it does not happen, but drivers behind may witness a case of vehicle constantly sideways scenario. I will keep experimenting though as you guys may be right about the fuel issues.

see i thought that was traction control because when i stomp my car around a corner hard, i assumed it was starving the car of fuel so i didnt break traction. meh.

No need to. If it happens an error code is recorded so the ford techs can easily verify that you do have the problem.

According to Ford, its only a problem on some of the 250kw T3, but looks like it affects a lot more then just the T3.

turned out to be a dirty fuel sock, apparently a common prob in Au's. haha silly ppl nicked the o ring so first time i filled up after getting it fixed, it leaked fuel onto the ground, so was promptly returned for another service...all good now.

I had the same problem but now its gone.

Ford told me it was the Auto Park Switch (sorry if this is not what its called). It cost about $170 installed for a new one and it hasnt missed a beat.

LMAO, same things happening with my series 3 vct. I thought it might be the clutch or something slipping, but obveously not... So, is the problem the fuel pump? If so what brand replacement (fuel pump) do people recommend?
