it will never catch on here
i was following a silver stretched 300c driving south on the M1 Princes hwy just before Bulli on sunday and he was driving all over the road and doing 100km in the 110km zone in the right lane, overtook him on the left and what do you know the phone was up to his face and he was texting, the audible lines where the only thing keeping him off the grass, was going to take a pic but couldn't be bothered slowing down

I have a Nokia E71 work phone and am really reluctant to give it up, and no I don't text and drive, but I hate typing with a 'virtual' keypad, I like a 'real' QWERTY keypad - thanks

Police with brig rig trucks?

1) that is crazy
2) shows you the size of the average joe's car that you need a big rig to be able to look down in to them now haha.

Not necessarily. From what I've observed (which has been the peak hour crawl on the M4) is that most drivers tend to have the phone below the window line (as in towards the bottom of the steering wheel). The taller vehicles would allow the officers a better angle to catch these people who are attempting to be discrete - even though what they are doing is still obvious.
While big rigs would be the ultimate vehicle for this purpose, I think that in Aus, a territory would be the best compromise of height and power/acceleration.

"Only in America" ... but they need to do something about it. The number of cars with texting drivers swerving around on the freeways over there is astounding, especially in California.
