Default anyone into amatuer radio?

G'Day guys.

I have been studying recently for my Advanced Amatuer Radio Licence, and was just wondering if there were many other HAMs on FF.au.

If so, what level licence have you got and whats your VK?
What kinda rig do you use?
do you get into other HAM related activities like Amatuer Television and weather stuff?

Oh no, a morse war.....

Young'un asked if there were any hams on the forum. So far only one has actually answered him.

As far as morse being dead, well I have worked ZL & FK8 on 70cm, ZL, FK8 & P29 on 2m and half of Europe, North & South America and most of Asia on 6m.

Try doing that on voice.....

Morse is what you use when everything else fails.

But then it is just a hobby, some enjoy it others can't see any sense in it.
But then I heard there was a person once who thought that modding cars, dragging and dropping burnouts was really weird too.

VK2UP (20+ years). Various stuff in storage as I currently live in apartment block, which makes it difficult.
Hope you do OK in the exam, it's a great hobby.

The DOC is slowly dragging it down to the level of CB. Only two real levels left now and no CW. I guess the theory will be next to go, then regs, then its open slather LoL.

I hope I do okay in the exam too... I have been studying Swainstons like a man possessed!

I intend to teach myself morse one day, but I must say I agree with it being removed from the exam. Morse was the major thing stopping people from attaining thier VK, and now that that is removed, more people will be able to get into the hobby.

Once they're in they can be nagged into learning morse!

Who said about us chickening out? I'd be more worried about the southern states declaring war on each other. Make it easier for us to take over...

All these little changes they are making are degrading the VK call structure.
We once had a high standard and it was easy to get a reciprocal call in another country if you held a VK full call, but since dropping the CW I am not sure this is still the case.
