I have 3 cars and at any one time only 2 are registered. Its too costly having 3 registered. A good system would be one when you register the person to the rta instead of the car. So you would pay one rta fee and as long as the car is roadworthy and has compulsory insurance paid up you can drive any car you own with one number plate. If they were serious you could also have one ctp greenslip per person because you can only drive one car at a time. Obviously my very basic idea would need a lot of tweaking to get it right but it could work. |

they will miss out on their fine for not displaying label. See the other states have looked at the pros and cons and worked out that the amount of motorists being pulled over fined for not displaying sticker is out weighed buy the cost of all those labels out there.

I'm a retired engineer and last year on a trip in the country (WA) got into conversation with Police while they had a break. They showed me the car.
There are 3 additional cameras added to the vehicle 2 facing forward and 1 to the rear. The officers need to do nothing once the system is initialised. The system automatically scans licence plates and checks the database automatically, alerting the officers when necessary. The only glitch in the system is obscured number plates; that is if the numbers are not clear and miss read by the system. The system can also alert the officers if the owner of the vehicle has their licence suspended or cancelled. You only have to look at the numbers of offenders caught in WA This year alone. This I feel is a good thing for us all. I don't necessarily agree with the fines but getting suspended drivers and unlicensed vehicles off the roads can only be good. |
