Default AU1 trans. click/tick noise

First post in this forum so I hope I'm in the right place.

My AU1 ute makes a single click noise just after I shift it into park. I think it is

also making the same noise when it changes from 2'nd to 3'rd gear but it's hard

to tell with engine and road noise. I suspect the transmission is nearly cactus

(300,000 plus) but it is still changing smoothly and doesn't slip at all. Is it about

to blow up? Anyone know what it is?

Sitting at the lights after about 5 seconds or so from a complete stop mine does a click and the car jerks a little, as if it's slipping either in or out of drive. Is that similar to what you have?

Mine has always made a click sound when I put it into park, and sometimes when taking it out of reverse. I just figured its one of those things. It makes a 'whiring noise' in 1st (not the diff), its just always sounded like that. *shrugs*

broken suave, what you experience is 'by design'. They did that from the factory from my understanding; mine does the same.

D, gimme a drive of yours one day next week and i'll tell ya what the go is.

highercountry, just service it and keep on driving it until it dies. 9 times out of 10 the BTR's die by simply not finding any gear at all anymore.

Thanks for the replies you guys. Glad to know I'm not the only one with a "clicky" auto and a whine in 1'st gear.
Don't think they build 'em as tough as they used to. I just recently waved goodbye to the old xf ute. 716,000 km's, regularly serviced the engine but never touched the transmission in all that time. Country miles admittedly, but still not a bad effort.
Hope this one goes the distance.

Should last you a while, we laughed at Mr Hardware when he bought a car with over 600,000+ kays on it, god was I wrong, then again he's an ex-cabbie mechanic-handyboy haha, scary thing is, his wife beat us off the mark in his car, Mr Hardware and myself in mine with him driving (as I was drunk out of my mind in the passengers seat haha). Mine's supposed to have the fast bits :(
