Default V8 Supercars Grand Finale - Homebush, Sydney - December 5 & 6

Last year, the club took 2 mini-buses up to the Oran Park V8 round, including an overnight stay. This year, we're planning to do it again for the very first race at the Homebush street circuit.

Like last year, there will be a very reasonable cost to cover mini-van hire and fuel (approx $30-$40 per person) , as well as the cost of overnight accommodation (probably around $120-$150 per room).

This will be a very popular event so we'd like to get accommodation sorted ASAP. If you're interested in going, please add your name to the list here, along with the type of accommodation you'll require:

Hi guys,

Traditionally, when we’ve attended races we’ve all just bought general admission tickets and then found an empty spot and set up camp. However, I’m a little concerned about what the view will be like at the Homebush circuit. Being a street circuit, there will be heaps of concrete barriers and mesh fences and as there’s never been a race there before I guess we don’t know what to expect as far as getting a good view of the race.

As I see it, we have a couple of options:
• We all purchase general admission tickets and try to find a good viewing area somewhere on the circuit (general admission tickets are $136 each for 3 days)
• We all purchase grandstand tickets. If we choose this option, we would need to book all our tickets in one batch so that we sit together (if that’s what we want). Grandstand tickets start at $180
• FYI, paddock passes are $33

I’d be keen to hear everyone’s thoughts.

Dane,

We have the Kaleen Sports Club bus booked again for this year. However, we have either 12 or 13 people going (just have to double-check on Chris V), so a trailer would be a necessity. Will check whether the club bus has a towbar.

Hi!

I'm visiting Australia and just as it happens I'm in Sydney on Dec 6th. There seem to be no grandstand tickets sold for Sunday only, so I would need to get a general admission ticket.
Can I still see some of the racing going on with that ticket? Are there 'general admission grandstands' without numbered seats?

I'd really like to see what you Aussies call racing ;) but I can't see on the official websites what I really get if I spend $70 on that ticket.

I would really appreciate if someone could give me a bit of insider-information.

Best regards,
Andy

Hi Andy,

General Admission is what we normally get, hard to give any insider info for this race, as it's a brand new circuit.

The ticket will get you the 'main game' V8 Supercar practice, quali, races, plus the support categories (see here: http://www.v8supercarevents.com.au/s...aceprogram.htm)

Too bad

So the general admission should give me a view on the racing action, right? I was afraid that it may only include the 'infield' with all the advertising and merchandising stuff and that I need to have a grandstand for viewing the race.

Would you recommend buying the ticket online or Sunday morning at the box office?

Thanks!

General admission tickets give you some good veiws of the track and racing at the clipsal 500 in Adelaide so my guess Sydney would be no different, only catch is you need to be there early to get a good spot. Cheers. Hope you enjoy.

Hey bbq,

Here is a map of the Homebush circuit:

The map shows you where the grandstands and off-limits areas are - basically, just about all other open areas are available for you to walk around and find a viewing spot.

Hi everyone,

One of our members has had to drop out so they have 2 x 3-day general admission passes to the race for sale. These cost $136 each but I'm sure they would accept any reasonable offer.

Please PM me if you're interested.

Cheers,

Richard

Thanks for your comments! I think I'll buy a general admission ticket for sunday. I am curious to see what Australian touring car racing is like.

By be there early, do you think arriving at 8:30 for the first race is sufficient or would you advise to be there even earlier?

Ok people, meeting place is the carpark of Yowani Golf Club at Lyneham. Be there at 5.15am this Saturday for a 5.30am departure :

Qualifying starts at 10am so we should be up time for it and the top 10 shootout.

In the meantime, this should give you a bit of an idea about the circuit:
