hey guys i bought myself an au11 futura its a 2000 model and auto.
my question is this would the following bits suit to convert it to manual. ED 5spd ed speedo cable ed malwood pin ed clutch in the box clutch cable ed tail shaft i know that these engine blocks are the same virtualy. the only thing i know wont suit is the ed manual ecu. |

Im pretty sure the E'series shifter is located either further forward, or further back then the AU.

I don't really know as I have seen pictures from EBII with AU and they stand nearly the same height but if I can recall the AU is a tad smaller or longer sorry mate can't remeber |

as above, au box is longer than e series, although i do believe someone fitted one, but they had to make a weird looking gear shifter. you wouldn't be able to get a short shifter for it. tail shaft from the ed would probably be too short to fit in an au, most people that do the conversion get their current shaft shortened and rebalanced. good luck

E-series gearbox will have the shifter closer to the centre console.
THe clutch cable will go as its the same cable from XF 5-speed on-wards, the XE 4-speeds had the clutch fork on the drivers side of the box.

hmm well the only thing i heard was different is that only four bolts match up from the bellhousing enstead of six.
and damn this box has a short shifter.. hmm. thanks guys |

well i wonder if anyone would swap an au manual box and tail shaft for a whole ed with 5spd set up.
you think a wrecker would go for that. |

Sorry to hijack thread but just wanted to ask why the AU gear box is longer.
Is it because the AU runs a T5Z and the extension housing is longer ? Regards, Craig, |

i'm not entirely sure, but i have a feeling the au has a longer input shaft and longer bellhousing...
or it could be what you said with a longer extension housing... if it's the input shaft i guess you could get an au one and belt that in it... |
