Default exhaust hanger

Hi all,

Had car serviced at ford and they have found the cause of the vibrations in my car, they said the exhaust bracket/hanger attached to the transmission mount is buggered. Then they inform me that the part is obsolete. Anyone know of an aftermarket one or a workaround?

Cheers,

Simon

That sound weird. It can just be welded back onto the exhaust. It's just a bit of metal with a bit of rubber on it?

Go to an exhaust specialist and get them to fix it.

Took it to exhaust shop and had a look with own eyes, its the rubber bushes that have collapsed allowing the hanger to rest on the steel strap. Mate at Repco has tried to get one but told same thing... obsolete! Exhaust guy reckons try and find a good second hand one or source bushes from somewhere and replace.

Cheers,

Simon

We disconnected the hangers from the exhaust and it made no difference to the vibrations so I reconnected them and won't worry about it now, they've probably been like that for years.

While it was on the hoist I checked out my Harmonic Balancer like I asked ford to do (they said it look OK) and could plainly see the rubber coming out. Put new balancer on last night and voila! no more vibes.

Cheers,

Simon
