Default Darwin

I'm heading up to Darwin on Saturday for a few days, and was just after some recommendations for any tourist attractions or places that may be worth visiting up there, so if anyone has any advice that would be great. Cheers.

The Darwin Museum near the casino is worth a look, a lot of info on Cyclone Tracey, also the military museum at East Point. The aviation museum is worth a look to see the B52 bomber on display. Lots of other history type stuff, especially WW2 history. A trip to Kakadu or Litchfield NP is worthwhile although you will only scratch the surface, but a good chance to do stuff you might not do if travelling on your own.

mindil beach markets on the thursday evening, just don't forget where you park the car as the carpark is not lit up
but also as everything else as been mentioned you might as well have a gander at hidden valley racetrack.

I just came back from there the other week.Make sure you go out and check the night markets especially the Mindil beach market. Also a great day out is travelling around and stopping over at the many spectacular falls that Darwin has to offer. Also ventured out to a few museums, pretty sure it was the Museum and Art Gallery of NT.There is also a few great WW2 sites to visit while in town aswell. All in all make sure you drink plenty it's the way of life up there.

Head down to Litchfield National Park for a day. Was up there a month back and its brilliant for a day trip if you haven't got time to do Kakadu.

Oh and X3 fr Mindil beach markets. Well worth a look.

if you head to litchfield you'd be best to have a few days at it, too much to see in only a day trip. But as has been mentioned the markets and museum are great. Try and jump on the "tour tub" which picks up from most hotels and motels and is a great way to see the city. Oh and the WWII oil tunnels are a great place too. Can't wait to get home from training in melb...

+1 for Darwin Museum and the Aviation Museum, even if your not interested in Planes, that B52 is F*king huuuuuge! oh and you HAVE to see the Crocs.

Do they still let you feed the mullet down at that boat ramp?? that was fun.

Hehe, i worked on building that Hangar, the Hangar was put up around the B52.

+1 for the Midil Beach markets.

Also Crocadylus park, Territory Wildlife Park is good too. The Fish feeding in Doctors Gully is good too and right in the city.

A walk up smith st mall is an eye opener at around lunchtime too, be prepared to be asked for a smoke or 2 dollars.
