Default Shannons Classic, the island March 7-9

hi All,

We have a display area for the Classic at the Island over the long weekend.
Like last year, there is a 3 day pass for every car that displays.

Patron is John Bowe, and invitiees include....
Sir Jack Brabham, Vern Schuppan, Leo Geoghegan, Kevin Bartlett, John Harvey ,Frank Matich John Goss, Alfredo Costanzo, John Bowe, Norm Beechey, Bob Jane, Jim Richards and Glenn Seton and Alan Hamilton,Frank Gardner and Tim Schenken, Harry Firth, Armstong 500 winner Frank Coad, Fred and Christine Gibson.

That, along with the world's most powerful car- the Porsche 917/30 Spyder developed for the Canadian-American (CanAm) racing series – will also be unleashed on the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit. Reputedly producing up to 1580HP (1178kW) in qualifying form and a reliable 1100HP (820kW) in race trim, the spectacular Porsche 917/30 with its 5.4 litre turbocharged 12 cylinder air-cooled engine could reputedly accelerate from 0-100km/h in 1.9 seconds, 0-160km/h in 3.9 seconds and 0-320km/h in 10.9 seconds, on to a top speed of 400km/h.

To be part of the display(either day is fine- you may not be able to do both), email or pm me. We will meet at Bunnings Cranbourne and head down.
Sunday we need to be in there before 9am, so will leave bunnings Cranbourne at 7:30am. Saturday will be later as there is no time restrictions.

Cheers,

I wish I could go down there but work always seems to get in the way. You’d probably need a crowbar to get me away from some of those cars.

I hope you all have a great time down there.

Cheers,
Danny

Cool

Thanks everyone for coming along..... although it was hot, the marquee gave us plenty of shade........

On Saturday Darcy Russell crashed and broke his leg- he was driving a Formula 5000.... Sunday saw a nine car crash on the start line....

Driving down .......

Yep.... Seagull is dragging behind again - too busy looking at the other GT-P heading down there...

All day we wanted to see what parked in this club display- nothing turned up....

Seto...

Like the seagull he copped on the second lap?? Certainly wedged in his headlight.

And last but certainly not least.... Jim Richards driving the 917........he had to borrow Klaus' helmet because Jim as we know only drives open faced ones....
