High Energy Sumps in V8 Cortina

Has anybody or knows of anybody who have used the HE sump in their V8 cortina in particular the TE/TF models. I have a HE race sump that cost me $1,000 and have the problem of the sump touching the crossmember ( see photo's ). Now this would be a lot worse if I did not redrill the CRS kit to move the engine back 1".

I would appreciate as much feedback from people that actually know someone who has a HE in their cortina TC-TF or confidently knows someone who has.

I have one in my MK5 (tc to you aussies!) which fitted perfectly. Gave me more room than the original bronco double hump sump I had in there before. If however you are using a CRS mounting kit, I think that could be more of an issue, they arent that flash. We looked at one, then made our own. Admittedly though, ours is a welded in one, where they are limited to bolt ins.
Go back to the HE guys, I found them helpfull. They might be able to mod your sump if you mark where you need more room.

On an aside, I have just got the power steering working for the first time today in mine, absolutely brilliant! Wish I had done it when I first put the V8 in it all those years ago!

I got a HE Sump in a TE with CRS Engine mounts. All fits good.
It's a WINDSOR.
I gather yours is a Clevo.

What type of HE sump do you have as other people have used the basic sump but no one has said they have the race sump like mine. Is your windsor the 302 or 351 block. I have been trying to find out the length of a 302 block as I measured a 351W sump the other day and it was 10mm shorter than the Clevo not that that would give me any positive indication in relation to engine mount location on the block.

I have a suspicion that the 302W is shorter and the basis of the template used is based around this and doesn't take the Clevo length into consideration. If somebody could confirm the length of a 302 block and if possible what the measurement is in relation to where the engine mounts bolt up that would help me work out if in fact there is a problem with HE using this template generically across the board for all ford blocks into all models of cortina TC-TF. HE have come to the party but initially they wanted me to pay a minimal charge to modify to which I politely told them where they could stick their $1,000 sump if they wanted to continue down that path.

See keep in mind I have redrilled the CRS mounts to move the engine back 1" so this would be a lot worse had I not done that. I suggested to HE to liase with CRS seeing as they're both Melbourne based to confirm each others templates for a clevo into a TE/TF cortina. HE were not interested in doing this, I mean they virtually said to me that the problem must be at my end as they have sold hundreds and have never heard of this before so I politely told them again well you have now.

Sorry, must clarify as someone has called me on this..... the Kiwi MK5's used the same subframe/suspension as the pommy cortinas, which is the same as the TC. Sorry for causing confusion :togo:

Good to hear that HE is going to sort it.
