Default Ecu-1v ( help) ea ecu & ea 11 difference??

Can u use ea series ecu out of a 89 model in later
ea11 eb1 auto non smartlock models.
Question is there a difference as early 3 speed
auto & later is 4 speed auto electronic ??
Does the later 4 speed auto have anything to do
with the main ecu-1v computer?? or is it run by its
electronic computer??
Thanks David.
