Dad didn't want to sell me his ED classic but he told me just before hed sell it for $500.
I'll try and get some pics tomorrow. It has a few deep scratches and only 1 small dent on the right rear quarter panel, one dint in front bumper ad the bumper sags. 222 000km's never had any problem except blowing a head gasket at 150 000km's. It's a 6 seater column shift and the interior is immaculate. I want to fix the dint and repaint all the scratches, one scratch is really deep do I have to get the whole panel repainted? I might do a fairmont ghia conversion (excluding things like cruise control becuase I think mechanics need to do that). But yeah I'm trying to think of ways to fix it up. How hard would it be to repaint yourself? and how much cheaper compared to a shop. It's that metallic green blue that all ED's basically were |

buy it, service it, and drive it. don't spend money on it if its not broken. You will never get any better advice.

Yeah I think the rotors need to be replaced (mechanic said something like that last service). It had a major service at 205 000km's and the transmission was all done so I don't need to worry about that for ages.
Apparantly it has some sort of steering that is illegal I think. None of the mechanics have picked up on it at Kmart Tyre and auto but where we used to live the guy said it's dangerous and only used on racing cars, something to do with the bushes I think he said. So what exactly does that mean? |

Yeah I want to convert it to a ghia but I gotta get it roadworthy first.
When that's all sorted I'll give ya a yell. I don't know how to dow the power windows? It currently has winders so I'm guessing i'll need new door trims but I don't have a centre console (nowhere to put power window buttons) since it's a 6 seater sedan so can I get special doo trims with the buttons in them? Also is it easy tp fit cruise control yourself? I'm guessing something that important should be fitted by a mechanic. Btw our car already has electric mirrors and smart lock and electric boot release but that's all I think. How much would you sell an ED trip computer for with the loom? Yeah but since I'm a learner I'd like the car to be actually roadworthy and not crash.
I dunno I want it to be reliable and fixed right up. If I can do that myself that's even better |

hmmm do I have to cut and reshape things or do youmean fitting every little thing back in the dash?
Think I might just convert it to an ED ghia, parts are cheaper too. The thing only needs new tyres, rotors and a major service and it should be great |

If you want a ghia clean this one up nice and with minimal $$ spending and sell it.
Then buy a Ghia... They are everywhere for $1500 - $4000 as MADED_6 said. Easier than stuffing about with converting.

Yeah the only one I saw cost 3k and it had 280 000km's on it.
I'd also like to do it myself so I can get more familiar with cars. Only problem seems to be the power windows, so I'm guessing you cant get door trims with the window switch on them? |

The Ea-eb-ed series only had controls on the rear trims, and with front controls on the center console.
I dunno about EF-EL though.

That will set you back quite a bit to. Most of the mods you have suggested will be costly. For starters get it roadworthy and then drive it for a bit before you do anything

Yeah.
I thought it'd be cheap. I've seen people sell whole ED fairmonts that have been write offs. I could just buy one of them and pull it apart. |

hmmm so did ford ever make door trims with the buttons in the door for the E series or NC?
That's my only problem I think. Oh also the power economy switch is in the electric antenna socket since it's a column shift however I have a spare socket next to the boot switch so I'm guessing I'll just put it there. |
