Default Cricket World Cup

Fair dinkum, woke up to check last nights scores. Pakistan is out, defeated by IRELAND! And Bangladesh defeated India.

Not the Bangladesh result doesnt suprise me, its only a matter of time until they become a legit team, but IRELAND! : A further reason to celebrate St Patricks Day! :

The Ireland victory was a big suprise. Congrats to them. I knew that Bangladesh had a chance against India. They have been improving a lot in the past year. Did anyone see that 17 year old play? It was pretty phenomenal.

There is an Irishman at my cricket club and boy he was happy!!! Having said that, the team is made up of ex-pats. Still a great effort from them though.

Furthermore, Wasim Akram said before the cup started that Pakistan would be the only team the Aussies should fear! Out in straight sets boys...a disgrace to your country!!

Pakistan is an absolute disgrace!! Ul Haq and probably most of the entire squad and selectors should all be sacked and start the whole team again from scratch!

Irelands draw with Zimbabwe was one of the most amazing games I have seen. They have played really well and fought hard.

Bangladesh is the team to watch in a few years. The average age is about 24 so they have a lot of time to still develop.

Inzi has also announced his retirement. Pakistan cricket had a lot of problems before this world cup. The pressure that some of the countries put on coaches is crazy. It will be interesting to hear what surfaces and if any allegations come out.

RIP Bob Woolmer

In other cricket news Flintoff was sacked for being blind drunk on the weekend & requiring rescuing from the sea!

No news link but I heard it on the radio this morning.

What's the go now? If Pakistan is out of the world cup because they were beaten by Ireland, does this mean that India is also out because they were beaten by Bangladesh?

Pakistan have lost two games now. The first to West Indies and now Ireland. Ireland have won a game and drawn a game. The first two teams of each division will go through to the super 8's. India have only lost one, if they lose again they might be going home too.

I see no smilies, so I dont know if you are serious or not.

The death of the Packies coach really looks bad for them, apparently a heart attack. Also heard something about vomit and blood in his room, so poisoning is possible.

Packies are crazy, did you see them protesting on the news? Its cricket FFS.

Read the story too.. Apparently he had an 8 hour bender and decided that in the early hours of the morning he would take one of the resorts canoes for a ride (possibly trying to paddle back to england???). He capsized the canoe and had to be rescued by the resort staff.

He has been dropped for the next game and told no chance of captaincy or vice captiancy now. 5 or 6 other english players where also disciplined.

What has Pakistan have besides cricket?

Think about it and get back to me.

Oh wait...they have the nuclear bomb.

But not much else.

Terrible news about Bob Woolmer...he was a greatly respected coach worldwide.

Incredibly insensitive of Inzaman (yikes...go the assonance!) to announce his ODI retirement on such a day.

Going by form perhaps Ireland!!!

I think South Africa are a good chance. Australia is too but I think NZ and Sri Lanka can make it. West Indies are looking better but I just don't think they are good enough at the moment.

I still think the Super 6 was a better concept.
