I'm int he market to update my NA Fairlane.
I dont want an AU series or later. I want the NL 98 model. There is a Concorde available for $7999. 105,000kms But i have seen a really tidy NF 5.0 - 125,000kms I remember someone telling me some majot differences between these year models. Can someone offer any 'real' differences between the 96-97 models and the last of the NLs in 98? Thanks |

Grill is different obviously, very minor differences in the interior... IIRC the NL's have a different steering setup at low/stationary speeds.
Generally, dont look at it as NF vs NL, just find the best condition, lowest K car for your price range. Obviously with all the options that you want. I chose the NF2 over a few NL's, as the NF's were cheaper and basically the same car. ![]()

nah no real major differences, a few minor suspension tewaks, and speed sensitive steering on NL's as allan said...
just go for the better condition car, they're a lovely car, you'll enjoy it ![]() |

Spend money on a decent exhaust system and you've got the perfect cruiser, you'll never want to stop driving it!

Ahh fair enough.. if its the right car i would go a 5.0L But 6 is fine. I'm 6'4" tall the Fairlanes are better for me. I had an EB Fairmont Tickford 5.0L once and when i went to the Fairlane it was noticeably more comfortable with that extra 2" of legroom. I like the longer wheel base ride as well. So probably wont be getting a Fairmont. Styill looking for someone in Brisbane to check out this NL Concorde for me ;) |

Alternatively, you could swap an NL driver's seat (or seat brackets & frame) into an NF (which is exactly what I recently did to my EF), and it made the car much more comfortable and drivable for me.

Do the Fairlanes still have the Red Rocker cover as the Fairmonts do for the Tickford engines? |

it seems they dont..
Its only the SVP or the Concordes which have the Tickford engine! Whereas all Fairmont Ghias have the Tickford engine. |
