Ring the insurance company and ask them what will happen.

You wont want to pay the bill when it arrives in a few months time if it does arrive.

Did the police or anyone take your details?

If you get stuck with paying for the damage which is likely you would have wished you could have lost your no claim bonus instead.

Call the insurance company, tell the exactly what happened and let them tell you what you should do.

Did the police take your details? Who paid to tow your car home?

1. Your 18 and haven't even had 1 full year of driving yet you will have no NCB rating anyway.

2. Generally 3rd party insurance doesnt accure NCB ratings (full comp insurance will however).

3. You can't accure any 'no claims bonus' as the insurance policy is under your mum's name NOT yours.

Read your insurance policy and see if you can figure out when/how you can claim, if you cancel the policy and then later make a claim my money would be on them not paying.

I dont know how or when the traffic authorities will act to recover costs for the post however im sure the amount on the bill will be greater than buying 3 or 4 more ED's...if it does come you would want to make sure your insurance policy will cover it.

I would get your new car take out a new insurance policy, sit tight and if no bill arrives in a couple of months cancel the remainder of your old insurance policy.

Thus if i tell them i've hit a traffic pole i need to be covered for that, yet in the next breath i say, oh and i want to insure my new car i just got, they might not insure me anymore, thats my main problem:S....any ideas?

Try a different insurer, however one of their questions will be driving history. If you say no accidents then 2 weeks later have to make a claim for the pole with RACV, it will void your new insurance policy as you failed to truthfully disclose that info to them...

EDIT: never knew that clause was in there MADNC_8 maybe they include that in their accident cover?

You have raised the insurance question again in another thread, but do us a favor, leave the sms style posts on the nature strip with the pole...
