Default au1 xr6 losing power

AU XR6 AUTO.
after owning my car for approx 7mnths, i've noticed it really begining to lack power down low.

I thought this is maybe cause im used to the car but i put my g-tech on it and its almost 1 fulll second slower then before. (tried several times, on different days too)

The first 40km/h is where the power feels really down, can anyone help me out here on what may be the cause

since i bought the car i needed to replace and done so using my local ultratune store

- coil pack, replaced with genuine ford
- plugs. use bosh super 4
- leds, original ford
- serviced every 5000km using full synthetic oil.
added original 17's, upgraed from 16's (doubt will cause any real effect)

I read the whole 14 pages of the au forum and could only conclude that my problem maybe an o2 sensor or map sensor.

any help kindly appreciated

It could be the bosch super 4s. They're not listed for an XR6, though they are listed for the standard AU I6. I had them in my old VCT XR6, and replaced them after about a month - though I do run them in the AU2 wagon, and they're fine.

As for sluggishness below about 2500rpm - it's part of owning an I6. I doubt the O2 sensor or MAP have much to do with actual power - they help to regulate richness etc, so affect economy more than outright power, though at WOT down low, the car could be running too rich because of a faulty O2 sensor, I suppose.

To me it sounds like it's time to get your transmission serviced - it sounds like the converter may not be transmitting the power properly at low revs. Of course, installing a Hi-stall (say 2500rpm) converter will help get the car into the powerband from takeoff.

thanx, i had the gear box serviced less then 10000kms ago, as for plugs they made no difference if i remember correctly, the guy that sold em to me said they use the same plugs as a regular falcon, but i'l change them anyway on the weekend, my car is the hp by the way.

What plugs should i be using?
Also is there a possibility that my satndard CAT could be chocking up the car

It depends on if yours is an AU1, or an AU2/3. Bosch do now list a Super4 for the XR6, so they may actually be OK, as long as the correct ones are used as per below:

Falcon XR6 AU1 HP 4.0 09.98-02.00 Standard plug: WR 9 LCX+ Super4: WR 91 X
Falcon XR6 AU1 VCT 4.0 09.98-02.00 Standard plug: WR 9 LCX+ Super4: WR 91 X
Falcon AU1 4.0 09.98-03.00 Standard plug: WR 9 LCX+ Super4: WR 91 X
Falcon AU II 4.0 04.00-03.01 Standard plug: WR 9 LEV+ Super4: WR 91 V
Falcon XR6 AU II 4.0 04.00-03.01 Standard plug: WR 9 LEV+ Super4: WR 91 V

the cat may have an effect, but usually it effects right through the rev range and you will hear a loud rattle under load coming from almost right beneath your seat. you seem happy with ultratunes service, perhaps go back there and ask them to check the o2 and map sensors for you.

the economy is a bit worse then b4, probably get around 280 before the petrol light comes on and takes about 55L of fuel.

I asked ultratune they said they have to charge me 127dollars to put the machine on the car and see if any sensors are playing up.

anyways the help is apreciated i will check my plugs, visit an exhust place tell them to check out my cat and prob jst change the sensors as it will work out cheaper then finding out if its faulty or not.

BTW the wagon xr looks real neat nice work to the owner

O2 Sensor Might need Changing , Check all your Points though , Plugs , Leads , Sensors , Give the Throttle Body a Clean , Might pay to have a Carbon Flusher Pumped thought it ...

i'd be looking at the o2 sensor or the injectors.like au2power said getting some carbon clean put through it wouldn't hurt ,especialy if you run it on standard ulp.
280 k before the fuel light comes on is pretty low .you should be getting 380+ before the light comes on.
whats the idle like?

But all that said im jst gonna do the sensors asap
