Default IRS V Live Axle

Hey guys, whats the difference with Live Axle and IRS? and how can you tell. I looked under the **** of my car and saw that the suspension arm from the wheel is seperate from the other side, eg the arm from the left is mounted in front of the diff, the right mounted behind the diff. so i'm ASSUMING that its IRS not live axle?

I think you have described a watts link, i.e. live axle.

An IRS diff is physically bolted to the car under the boot. A live axle diff is basically supported by the rear suspension. It's pretty obvious, really. Post a pic if you are still not sure.

From memory it was a $990 option but I opted out when buying a special forte off the showroom floor due to the 80kg extra weight
All these years later and now with the VCT, I really should of gone the option. Six years of driving the forte really knocked me around. Man it was rough
being so low didn't help either
