Default attention bigpond users!

Just a heads up to anybody on bigpond here when you get your next bill check their plan pricing on their website as when they released ADSL2 the prices for regular ADSL dropped but they billed me for my full amount even though my particular "plan" no longer exists tried to call them today but no answer just an automatic reply telling me to try again tomorrow!
By the way the new plan allows 2 GB more before they slow my speed and the price is about 33% cheaper than my current (but no longer exists, go figure) plan rip off bastards!

Pfffffffffffffffft Telstra are Rip Off Merchants.............

We were spending $1500 per month on mobiles and they advertised if you were a heavy user you could get a nominated number that you call alot on cheaper rates

I nomintaed a number and they said No not that number as its on Optus number, you have to nominate a Telstra Number.

Told them to Shove it and Changed to AAPT

I posted here about the change when adsl2+ launched to alert people to change their plan to avoid this but the forum powers removed it for whatever reason. Sometimes the mods are just too aggressive I think.

You can change your plan at any time by logging into your bigpond account and changing the plan. I happen to work for Bigpond tech support. I would recommend all ADSL members check their plan against the current plans on offer.

The reason it is not changed automatically is due to a contract between you and Bigpond. Bigpond allows for you to change your plan whilst under contract but I dont think it would be legal for them to change your plan for you.

Anyhow, enjoy the faster speed and extra 2 gig.

Hey Jason,

I dont think so. Cable is a very limited technology as far as its availability. I cant see too many changes coming for cable.

Having said that I only do tech support so dont know for sure. I think they should increase the cable liberty plan usage cap to 12 gig (prior to shaping) to make it inline with the adsl liberty plans.

BlackXR6 - I tried to upgrade my plan (I'm not on contract) to a higher speed one but have not heard anything back from Telstra. Question I have is, is my modem (Speedtouch 530) capable of running the higher speeds?

Tried for days trying to get through, in the end had to go through technical support. Old plan slower speed etc, same cost as what is now 3 times the speed. Didn't even tell me, sly.........

ADSL higher speeds yes. ADSL2 higher speeds? No. I have the same modem as I'm an ex Bigpond customer. I left as for $10 less I could 1) double my speed, 2) increase my webspace from 10mb -> 50mb and last and final 3) went from 10gb shaped to 20gb shaped.

20gb suits my usage far better. I always hit the 10gb limit. I ever so rarely hit the 20gb limit though. Bloody "Fear" (pc game) patches ate most of this months limit. It kept downloading the wrong patch when done automatically. I had to manually download the correct patch.
