Default Nokia 6230i software upgrade.....

Hello to anyone who can help...

My 6230i wont ring on full volume no matter what I do to it. It will only ring on full when you select the ring volume. All other times it will ring quietly..

I have done a master reset, and tried everything inc checking caller groups ,, etc etc...

does anyone know where to download software to upgrage the firmware.

I have a data cable , so all I need is the software ( its not on nokia site )

thanks in advance

AC/DC

I dont think its your software. I think its your ringer. Thats the first thing I used to change back in the day fixing phones.

You have to take your phone into a nokia care centre to get the firmware upgraded.
You CANNOT do it yourself, and any attempt to will probably screw your phone even more.

The data cable won't be able to flash it either.

You need a seperate flasher cable if you were to do it yourself.

Actually, if you have a T6 torx driver, strip it and clean the contacts. You'd be surprised how that helps sometimes.

That's incorrect, you can do it yourself now (not sure about this model though)

You cant do it yourself. A 6320i has to be upgraded with a EPROM box.

Different manufacturer, different software, different hardware. Thats why it cant be done.

The 6230i will always start ringing quitely and get louder, even on the highest volume setting. It's usually a ring or two before it swaps to the loud ring. Dunno why they did that, but it annoyed me when I first got that phone.

I had a problem with my old 8310 where it would only ring quitely, even on the loudest setting. To fix it, I had to:
  1. Put the phone on silent
  2. Turn the phone off
  3. Turn the phone back on
  4. Change back to the General profile
That used to fix up my old phone. Not sure if it could be a similar sort of thing, but might be worth a shot?
